I never thought there would be something bit similar to a beer garden (those in europe) in varkala. The vew is beautiful as from any hotels in the cliff. It's hot in there and you sweat like a pig. The beer taste nothing good but it was chilled and a huge relief (may be coz we had been there during a ban on drinks and not much options available). The veg sizzler was good. kids loved the pan cakes. you have option to buy fresh fish and can ask them to either grill or go for a tandoor. Red snapper is the most common one. Tiger prawns were yummy, bit costly. The grill is more of less spicy and less indian. The tandoor is done on our own ....masala... :-). Varkala is always cheap and simple. The fish price depends on the days catch. The deserts were new and tasty. Cocktails were better than the beer. Overall the food was great but the ambience made it better. Even if you are alone, On a corner table facing the sunset, you would love it.
