A steep climb down steps which would definitely not pass English regulations!! The beach itself is pretty clean as is the sea although the waves can be high and quite dangerous. There are lifeguards but they just seem to blow their whistles and wave a red flag most of the time - not sure about them actually going into the water! Rickety sun loungers and umbrellas are available to hire need to bargain although if the beach is full there isn't much choice.

Hardly any local tourists. The beach was quiet and had these small crabs running and digging holes in the wet sand. Good place to take a dip too.

Lovely long beach. The water was clean and clear. The waves strong and fun to play in but not too much. The sand does disapear quite a bit at high tide. Gets busy in December but not overbearing.

I was at this beach on 16th jan 2014 with my mom and wife. This beach also named papnashini beach is awesome,to go to the beach we have to go down the cliff for which stairs had been made at various distance on the cliff once we came down we saw that we have to cross or walk over the various stones laid down there to have the access of the beach.
After crossing i thought that the beach might not be so good but infact the beach is so clean and true to its color and very much enjoyable. If u stay in the water u will see that sand does not comes with the water on ur feet like some other beach.
I was truly amazed of the way the beach was maintained by kerala people and government.the cliff is also big on the beach and lots of shops of varities and resturant mostly owned by foreingers.
This beach is deffinetly worth visiting when u visit kerala and mumbaities should learn from kerala people or government how to preserve beaches and keep it clean and polluted free for good visiting experience.

Stopped on our way to Kovalam from allapuzha. Found it quiter place with people as friendly as in rest of Kerela. Kovalam is too commercialised with lotsa rudeness.
would prefer this beach over Kovalam next time.
