I booked this after reading the trip advisor reviews. And I was not disappointed, the place is a little interior, but the Celine was spot on with her correspondence.
I had opted for a non AC room and when I arrived, there was no electricity. However, I was pleasantly surprised that the room was decorated with flowers. There is a warm feeling that you get when you enter the rooms as they are all so comfortable and not too crowded with furniture.
Having said that, I do feel that the non AC rooms, need to have some netting to keep out insects and other critters. Also, as a single traveller, I would have liked it if the windows, had some grills on them. Since there was neither any netting or grills, I could not keep the windows open to air out the room and did not feel safe. So, after a long evening walk in the humidity, I wasn't very happy to come back to a very warm room. I immediately changed it to an AC room. This way, I could enjoy the cool after I came in out of the heat. I informed the owners about this and they said that they would take this issue into consideration.
Other than that, I must congratulate Celine & Tariq on their amazing hospitality. They were so very helpful. I met Tariq on the cliffs and i dint know the way back and he was so nice to walk me back until I got my bearings. I loved their little sit out area they have, although if I had more time then I could have enjoyed it. The place is just 5-7 mins walking distance to the cliffs. There is a shop next door that sells water and some other cold drinks. For food you can go next door to Deshadan Cliff Resort, or take a 7 min walk to reach the Varkala cliffs where you can get your pick of cuisines. My favourite spot was the Kerala Cafe.
I also had an unforeseen incident where my driver dint show up, so I was there for a longer time and very stressed. Was a nice feeling when Vicky came to my door with a cup of 10 o'clock chai.
I do hope I can go back to stay there again. It was nice to be in a quiet area, but still not too far from the action.
