Considering that you are staying in a tourist enclave, this place is quite convenient. The facilities are good, the service OK - it is not their fault that the WI-FI connection is sporadic. Plenty of shops and restaurants nearby on the strip along the cliff edge. The Restaurant Kadaloram No. 1 (Nepalese staff) can be recommended.

We arrived at the hotel without a booking- it was recommended by a tuk
tuk driver who picked us up at the train station,no doubt in return
for a commission.

The hotel is on the cliff at Varkala, surrounded by bars and
restaurants, but its set back so we didn' t hear any noise.

None of the rooms have a sea view, as is the case with most of the
clifftop hotels. They are set in nice gardens and are single story
chalets.

We looked at a couple of rooms and chose one at 2000 rupees per night.

The room had a balcony at the front, separated from its neighbours by
a rattan blind so wasn' t private. The room was a good size and seemed
clean. There were two single beds pulled together, with a mosquito net
which had a couple of small holes.

The bathroom was open air and was very clean considering that. The
shower was cold water but was quite a good flow.

Theres free wifi at the hotel and they also run cookery courses. It
seemed well run and I thought good value for the central cliff
location.

One small negative - the room had an A/C unit but the manager told us
it wasn' t working when we took the room. We therefore just had a
ceiling fan and this was controlled by a switch outside the room.
Whenever we left tge room we kept the fan on to try and keep it cool,
but the staff would come and switch it off, meaning we returned to a
stuffy warm room. I can see why the hotel would prevent excessive A/C
use but turning fans off feels excessive?

Bamboo House were partly shut down because it was off season. They couldn´t offer an ac room despite it said on signs. Our hut were paper thin and the door almost fell off. The toilet broke totally down so we changed hut after one night. Both the first and the second hut were very dirty and needed simple but obvious renovations. The huts were not cleaned, spider wed, dust, sand and much more. The staff sat all day and watched tv instead of doing their job; freshing up the place. They were not very helpful when we had questions.

We stayed there five nights. During stay in Varkala we saw another places for three times less price than in bamboo with nicer rooms than here. The garden here is beautiful and location is also gerat, but inside of the bungalow it is quite dark and poor. No cleaning service, no cleaning equip. So it is gonna be a bit sandy inside of bungalow after few days. For lower price ok...

We stayed for 4 nights here solely for the location. It is a little pricey, and the service is not very welcoming.

We did the cooking class also, which was a very good experience and the value is pretty good.

Lovely surroundings, decent huts, great location, chilled out staff. Also security guard at night makes it feel quite safe. No cleaning done in 4 nights however so room got very sandy, and the power went off quite a bit (though this probably isn't their fault). The cooking class is pretty rubbish but was fine to pass some time on the 1 rainy day at the beach.
