Since the temple is considered very Sacred and is located next to the Western Group of temples, one must find time and visit the temple.

One of the best sights at the Western group of temples at Khajuraho has got to be the Kandariya Mahadev temples for its intrinsic work and ornamented patterns of designs on the exterior of this majestic shrine. The temple is well maintained and depicts all sorts of gods ,goddesses and nymphs in different positions. This is definitely a great sight for people interested in photography or architecture. Just take a good time out to stand at the temple complex for a good moment and admire the sheer beauty of this temple!

This is one of the big temples in the Khajuraho group of temples. It is on a huge platform and has lot of columns and brackets with beautiful sculptures. See each of the sculptures and also Mahadev inside the temple.

All of the temples at Khajuraho are awe-inspiring. There are about 25 remaining out of 85 built at the height of the Chandela Dynasty. Today, they wait majestically for visitors in a beautiful park-like setting. The Kandarariya Mahadev Temple is located toward the back of the park and is absolutely remarkable for its classic form and utterly perfect dimensions.

The tower upon tower upon tower architecture is astounding as it's hard to count how many sit one on top of the other. The main spire is 98 feet high. Hundreds of sculptures decorate this temple. They depict nymphs, dancers, gods, goddesses, musicians, and celebrations of sexual acts of creation.

I climbed to the top of the platform, removed my shoes, and climbed further to examine the interior of the temple. Inside is dark and mysterious. The inner sanctum has a carved door framing a single linga stone. This is a phallic symbol that appears in all Shiva temples. It is bathed in water, honey, and other substances as part of the puja ritual.

This is one of the most beautiful of the temples in the park. Enjoy this World Heritage Site.
