Though we were aware that the management has changed we still went ahead as in panchgani its always ilpalazzo. A change in management has put the reins of the hotel (which was more like home to me,) in the hands of mr.faram and right from the time we walked out from our car to the office nothing seemed right. The parking lot was filthy with garbage strewn all over which was a very unpleasant sight. No staff was around to even take our bags. The garden looked as though it hadnt been tended to for days on end.Inspite of repeatedly asking for a front room i was put up in the annexe which i ofcourse refused to take. Finally someone had to be vacated and a room was given to us.
The room was not properly cleaned and had a musty smell. Ater several repeated calls someone from housekeeping appeared to clean up again.Room service is so slow you would rather go yourself and fetch things.Food quality too was lacking in taste and variety that we were so used to.We truly missed the salads and desserts which were introduced in a couple of our earlier visits. A walk around the swimming pool area was even more of an eye sore.Instead of an impeccably maintained pool it was coated with green moss at the bottom and the water was green in colour.Have never seen the surroundings so poorly maintained. Dealing with Mr.faram was another ordeal all together.Normally one expects a polite, courteous and reasonably well groomed person at the front desk but not only does he sport a dishevelled unkempt look but is crude and crass as well. His constant loud voice with derogatory foul language could be well heard across the corridor disturbing the peace and ambience around. It definitely doesnt go with the repute and high standards of ilpalazzo. Finally i wanted to speak to someone from the family but i was rudely told that i should speak to him whatever it is.On enquiring with the staff they also confirmed the same.
Not that i had interacted much with mr.kobad and his wife lily during my previous visits, but his mere presence would always assure me of a wonderful holiday without compromising on the cleanliness, service and food..and if at all, even a complaint would be immediately taken care of.
Sadly, it isnt the same anymore, totally disappointed and money gone down the drain.
