“Must-visit Monsoon Destination”
Reviewed 5 April 2014

About 2-hours drive from Mumbai, on Kalyan-Murbad Road (though National Highway ... grossly neglected), lies Malshej Ghat. Come monsoon, and all suvs, cars lead to Malshej on week-ends. A good place to unwind.
However, a word of caution... police may not allow to carry any alcohol. Enjoy the nature and get intoxicated.

“Monsoons Best”
Reviewed 14 March 2014

One of the best place to visit during the monsoons. The weather is awesome and the place is just so beautiful by nature...The rains, the clouds, the fog, the waterfalls is all a breathtaking view which you generally dont get to see in places close by like khandwala , Lavassa, Lonawala.
Best way is to drive it out... the view is just fantastic... did not no such a place existed close to Mumbai though :).. Must visit if your a nature lover.

“Over-hyped!!”
Reviewed 10 January 2014

I had heard such good things about this place. Its true it just looks perfect in monsoons. but that's just it. Its just a road with no place worth stopping. We drove on that road again n again so that we can find a decent stop but finally had to make do with a place where they had corn. Had it and just drove back. So if you want to go, see and plan to return within an hour or so, its great.. Otherwise a big letdown..
If you plan to stay, there are just 2-3 hotels and book them before going otherwise its difficult to get a room.

“better than Khandala.”
Reviewed 10 January 2014

The road from kalyan to malshej ghat after some 20 kms is hust too good and light traffic. The mountains on the right towers over you for more than 40 to 50 kms. Ride on to Narayangaon and on to Pune. The ghats are scenic, breathtaking and better than khandala.

“A good place!”
Reviewed 30 December 2013

We travelled to Malshej Ghat for two nights / three days on the 25th December 2013. It is approx 145 KM from Andheri. The first 70 odd KM were a bit tough with traffic, but the last 75 KM's were simply fantastic. A good road takes you across the mountains and forests to the destination.
We travelled during winter, and as such was not able to see the majesty of the place during monsoons.Still, it was a good place.
There is nothing much to do once you get there, unless you are a serious trekker. Therefore, a one night stay would have been sufficient.
Once up there, there are a quite a fews dabba's. We tried the place just after Sushant Resort (3.5km's away) and it was very good.
