We really loved this hotel, it was like the eccentric places we stayed at all over India in the 1980s. Laid back staff, in fact it seemed like the guy running it was asked to mind it for a friend and the friend never returned! he was a lovely helpful bloke though. The room was functional and large, but had seen better days and had some weird electrical stuff in it. The carpet was grotty though. The pool looked nice but it was too cold for swimming. The restaurant had a basic menu and the food had a home cooked taste to it. If someone put a bit of work into this hotel it could be a gem. Only down side is it is a long way from all the action, but there were always lots of rickshaws and it isn't far from the bus stop to the rat temple. was difficult though getting transport for an early train.

We stayed 3 nights, paying Rs600 for a double room. Good value considering what we got. Nice pool and lovely lawned gardens. Beds rather firm but they helped by offering an extra mattress. Food OK but some things a little pricey. Nice to have a fridge in the room. Small shop with drinks, snacks and Internet next door. A bit out on a limb with nothing much in the area but we walked to the fort in about 1/2 hour. Very quiet.

I love the Hotel Padmini Niwas with my friends have stayed in JUNE 2010. After trying many other places, we were so happy to get into the Padmini Niwas. The rooms are comfortable, big and clean. The bathrooms are clean and spacious. The living spaces are pretty, well organized and comfortable. Hotel Staffs are very good, decent & Very cooperativ. & the location of Hotel like to say “MARVELOUS "

We highly recommend this place!

Due to a few recommendations and the times of the trains we decided to slightly alter our planned itinerary and head to Bikaner early and so we didnt have a hotel pre-booked. After speaking to a copule of people and reading through the Lonely Planet guide book we went to Padmini Niwas. The main reason we chose this place was that it had a pool and due to the heat we thought it would be a lovely idea to sit by the pool and relax, how wrong we were.

Good
- There was a pool

Bad
- Unfortunately the pool was badly kept and wasnt clean
- The room was a good size but like the entire hotel was unbelievably bland and boring and could have been a budget premier inn somewhere in the UK, had no character and barely any furniture
- The service was poor and unhelpful
- The location was in the middle of nowhere and we had to get a rickshaw to get everywhere

Overall
I would recommend everyone to stay away from this place, and although it was refreshing to have a pool you dont want to spend any time in it due to its cleanliness. The hotel is rundown and badly kept and there is no character at all in its decor and decoration.

This place should have to be a good hotel in this small city : not at all !

My room was small, not clean and the bathroom is really a shame...

Of course, there is a garden where you can eat your breakfast and a swimming pool (absolutely not clean) but really find another place in Bikaner to have a nice rest.

Best, Yann

Everything was as expected which in India is a pleasant experience. The room was clean, the AC worked, the staff were professional, the beds were fine.

We used the restaurant which was basic but good. The stay was very cheap for a midrange hotel and probably due to the time of year (late April).

Recommended.
