“Yellow sandstone haveli stay”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 November 2010

If U want to experience the haveli experience, which probably jaisalmer's old era was having, Jeet mahal can be one of them.
Like most of the hotels in Jaisalmer, U can not bring your vehicle to this Haveli too... conjusted city crowded with yellow havelis do not give U a gr8 look from outside, but insid eits a royal experience.
Each room is different with diff dimentions, facilities and rates. Choose one of them and stay accordingly! Have a Royal experience according to the budget.
The rooftop restaurent gives U fort view too.

This hotel is located in an old haveli about two minutes walk from Salem Singh haveli and five minutes to the fort. The room we stayed in was very nice, although the hot water was not very hot. The aircon was very convenient as the outside temperature was somewhere around 40 degrees celcius. The wifi was okayish but reception at the rooftop is less to none so maybe they need to invest in a better wifi router to increase this. The room price includes breakfast.

We had a day in hand to spend in the Jaisalmer City. After having a bad experience in one of the hotels organized by the desert camp owner, We decided to stick with the 'Hotel Jeet Mahal' after seeing the reviews here in Trip Advisor. Truly worth the risk. The rooms were clean and neat. The owner is very accommodating, we actually stayed in the room for few hours and paid nominal amount. The food(typical Indian one!!!) was good too. I strongly recommend this hotel for the service, flexibility and the cleanliness of the room.

The rooms were small but charming with lots of traditional furnishings. The hotel itself is 250 years old so don't expect modern style rooms. Since it is located within the first gate of the fort, cars are not allowed in. It was quiet at night. All the sights were within walking distance. The toilets were large and clean. Restaurant was on the rooftop with a view of the fort and beautiful at night. Food was simple and good. The owner brothers were friendly and helpful. They run their own camel safari but are not pushy if you decide to go elsewhere.

Actually it was two years ago that I stayed at the Jeetmahal with my partner, but Í just recently registered on Tripadvisor so I can also give reviews in stead of just reading them. If I read the recent reviews, not much has changed and I mean that in the positive sense! This hotel contributed a lot to the nice memories that I have of Jaisalmer. The staff is genuinly friendly and helpfull. The price of the rooms is low compared to similar standards and the value is great. The rooms are beautifully decorated with nice pillows and bed sheets. The bay windows in the room give it a very nice atmosphere. The rooftop restaurant has nice views of the Fort and the town. Especially in the evening when the fort is lit with lights. We arranged a two day camel safari with a relative of the hotel manager and experienced a magical night sleeping under the stars in the Thar desert. Very highly recommended place.

The hotel is good located, rooms are excellent, clean, good furnished, restaurant is good and there is a beautiful terrace with view to the fort.
And more then everything the owners and the staff are great!! Very kind and nice people, they have been so nice with us...I will recommend this place to all my friends.

Lovely rooms, beautiful architecture, very friendly and helpful staff, amazing shower, inexpensive - what more could one want? Amazing fort views from the rooftop restaurant, which also offers delicious parantha, cold beer and a very mellow space to escape the afternoon heat or recover from a full day's adventures. The hot water is very reliable with a battery backup for the intermittent Jaisalmer power outages. There is one Internet computer near the lobby and usage of it was free. The staff were enjoyable to talk with and went out of their way to assist with our every need - be it help booking train tickets, mailing parcels, or recommending restaurants and shops (both to go to - and to avoid). Their recommendations were always on-point and were never a hard-sell in any way, nor were they to overly expensive places. Our room faced the street and earplugs are recommended - but also came with charming window seats and a view to the fascinating street scene of cows, dogs, vendors, bicyclists, etc. The location is superb, a few short and interesting blocks from the Fort. We extended our stay and in our 5 glorious weeks in India did not find accommodation we enjoyed more thoroughly. (Although there was a beach hut in Goa that was a close rival. ;-))

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Hotel Jeetmahal has 6 lovely rooms, and is in a great location just outside the Fort gates, and is very close to markets and main attractions in Jaisalmer. The hotel is an old heritage building which was built in the first decade of the eighteenth century by Jeetmal Bissa, who served as an architect at the Royal Palace of Jaisalmer. He surprisingly constructed this fabulous Haveli in his spare time, when he was not required to attend the Royal Palace. The haveli has jharokhas of exquisite carvings and this heritage haveli still has a wonderful atmosphere of old Jaisalmer.
