“Great view. Awesome rooftop restaurant!!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 February 2014

This hotel lives up to its name! The interiors are ROYAL indeed! The roof top restaurant has an excellent view of the fort. We sat in a small very Rajasthani setup on the terrace and ordered hookah and food. The food was excellent and so was the hookah.
The staff was very friendly and felt like a very home like experience.

This is a hotel where you will not miss home! The owners, both husband and wife are fully dedicated in making the experience a memorable one! I was visiting this hotel after exactly 4 years ... drove down from Mumbai. The hospitality culture is deeply ingrained in all the staff as well.
Neat and clean rooms, very colourfully bedecked yet simple .... restaurant serves tasty food for every palate yet easy on pocket.
The location is ideal - both lake and fort are 10 min away by walk.
I could see guest from many nationalities - chinese, japanese, germans apart from Indians.

Room Tip: There isnt any spa inthe hotel to the best of my knowledge

This room was booked for us through a travel agency, so I can't speak to price. I can however say that I had the best shower of my 5 week trip here and that this was definitely one of my favorite hotels of the trip. The room we had was spacious and nicely decorated with a comfortable bed. What really made me love my stay here though was the people. My sister and I took several meals at the restaurant on the roof and enjoyed the view of the fort/interacting with the gentlemen who worked there. Great food as well. Everyone at the hotel was incredibly friendly and helpful. We were only guests for one night before a camel safari, but when the safari was over, they offered us a room to shower in (even though we'd checked out the day before). I fell ill in the desert and had a day of homelessness before a night train. The Royale let us use an empty room to rest in until our train. The Royale was a true lifesaver! Charming hotel that I can't recommend highly enough!

We really enjoyed our stay here! The room was filled with character and was very comfortable. The rooftop restaurant has amazing views over the fort, especially good at sunrise and after dark! The waiters were very friendly and helpful too.

We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights over the New Year period. We paid a lot of money for our room, 4750 rupees, plus a Festive Season surcharge of 2150 rupees per night. We had requested a Suite Room and were very disappointed with the size and quality of the room. A more appropriate rate would have been 2500 rupees per night. The bathroom was very small with the shower head in the middle of the room which meant that everything got soaked when we had a shower. The hot water ran out very quickly. I was sick with a cold and had to spend a day in bed. I was hoping to watch movies all day, but the sound and picture quality were terrible. There is no Wi-Fi in the rooms either, although there is free Wi-Fi in the reception area. We did ask to change rooms when we first arrived and the Suite Rooms were all pretty much the same. The Deluxe Rooms are bigger and nicer with much bigger bathrooms and are the same price as the Suite Rooms, so we felt that we had been over-charged. There is a pleasant roof top restaurant with a view over the fort, but it is a very cold place to eat breakfast and dinner, so we ended up eating in our room. The breakfast buffet was very average, but the room service food we had was good. The staff were mostly very good, especially the manager and the restaurant manager, but the guy who works on reception was not very friendly or helpful. We would definitely NOT recommend using him for booking travel services and taxis. A lot of people seemed to be experiencing problems with train tickets and we had a problem with our taxi driver to Jodhpur who had no idea where he was going. There are a few plus points though. Everything was very clean, the pool looked nice although it was too cold for us to use it, and the location is very good, just outside the Fort. I would recommend this hotel only if you pay 2500 rupees a night for a so-called "Suite" and maybe 3000 rupees for a "Deluxe" room.

Room Tip: Go for a Deluxe Room, they are much nicer and bigger than the Suites and are the same price.

We had one night at the The Royale in November and were very satisfy by the hotel. The room we had was lovely decorated with an amazing view on the fort. The whole place was very clean, comfortable and the staff was incredibly nice and attentive. The restaurant on the rooftop have a wonderful view on the illuminated fort and the food was delicious. Moreover, The Royal have a great location in Jaisalmer, only 5 minutes walk from the fort and surrounding markets. It was a real pleasure staying there :)
