“Amazing Place to Stay!!!”
Reviewed 13 March 2011

Pleasant Haveli is a wonderful place to stay in Jaisalmer. The location is great (walking distance to the Sonar Killa), food is good and service is excellent.

What most impressed us was that the owner (Mr D. Singh) took extra care to make our trip as comfortable as possible. He booked us the Desert Safari (which was very nice), let us stay a few extra hours after normal check out time (as our train was in the afternoon), free internet, offered us free tea / coffee / mineral water and gave us great advice about how to plan our stay in Jaisalmer.

This is the best hotel in Jaisalmer. Great room, clean & comfortable. Service is excellent. Had a great time with the friendly & helpful owners, Naru & Dilip, during our stay. Good location, everything close. Wonderful rooftop terrace with nice food & sunset view.

Highly recommended to stay in Jaisalmer !

Dilip (the owner) really makes the difference here. We had a ton of difficult requests to satisfy -- we needed a guide, for example, but couldn't spend money that day for religious reasons. We emailed the hotel about it in advance, and we found out when we got there that Dilip himself was going to take us on a tour of the entire old city! He's a local who really knows everyone so it was great. He helped us find shops and restaurants and was generally a really great guy to hang out with in general.

The hotel itself is quite new and feels clean. Rooms are spacious, too. The rooftop with the amazing view of the fort really gives it another dimension. Location is great, too -- a side street right off the main bazaar, 10 minutes to the fort. Great for wandering without feeling too touristed.

I also wanted to quickly call out the hotel's restaurant. We were both impressed by the food and the view.

A truly great place to stay in beautiful and romantic Jaisalmer.

My partner and I chose Pleasant Haveli because of its TripAdvisor rating and were not disappointed. Dilip, the owner and manager, receives all his guests through the site and does no other marketing. He deserves his top rating and without question I would recommend this hotel to anyone who visits the city. The view from the rooftop bar is worth the room charge in itself.

Pleasant Haveli is situated on a quiet backstreet from Jaisalmar and away from the walled city. We found its location to be a positive, as we escaped the chaos and noise, had a great view and supported the preservation of the walled town which is slowly being destroyed by water damaged caused by over-inhabitation.

The service level and character of the individuals made our stay so special. Every time we entered the hotel or left for the day we were handed a free 1.5l bottle of good mineral water. This is a great touch! We had complementary drinks each evening too overlooking the fort at sunset. A magical experience.

The hotel itself is charming, clean and comfortable. Each room has individual character, so ask to see a couple before you choose. Our room had a great art-deco bathroom which was an unusual feature!

Stay here, say hi to Dilip for me, and you will not regret it!

Trust me, I have seen many hotels in Jaisalmer, but this one is class-apart. I visit Jaisalmer almost every month. This is an absolutely wonderful hotel. Neat royal interiors, very clean (walk bare feet), quiet and tranquil. The hotel staff is extremely courteous, always smiling and very helpful, The waiters are obedient, swift, shy and least intrusive. They even know how to gently knock a door. Food is great. Highly recommended to every visitor who wishes to make it trip to remember for a lifetime. This one stands apart.

"Hotel Pleasant Haveli, I will be back!"

After reading the alerts in various guides about the danger the many guesthouses in the old town represent for this extraordinary sight in Rajasthan, we decided definitely to stay out of the fortified city.
The owner justly deserves the good reviews in trip advisor for his recently renovated hotel. The view from the rooftop restaurant is just tremendous. The personnel are friendly and helpful. The guests receive unlimited amount of bottled water free of charge.
But there is still room for improvement. The rooms are nice but the lighting is too psychedelic (in some rooms just bluish, in others in a reddish tone). It is a pity that the shower area in the bathroom is not 2 cm lower in order to keep the water running towards the evacuation hole, moreover a shower curtain would be nice. At least on the second floor, there should be some comfortable chairs to have a rest and chat with friends if the weather is too cold to stay on the beautiful rooftop place. The Wifi connection barely reaches one room near the reception desk. A router with a stronger signal might be useful.

Well, this winter, me with my friends traveled 4 places in India. Delhi, Bombay, Jaisalmer and Goa. Among all these four cities, Jaisalmer was the place, where we enjoyed a lot. The main reason behind it is the hospitality of Hotel Haveli. Barkat Bhai,a fun loving guy, is going to make you not only love the city, but will win your heart in every other way. Food is terrific and the place is well maintained. I recommend you all to have a stay in this hotel if you ever plan to visit Jaisalmer.
