Nice place. We rent a room for 500 rupies. Really little but confortable. The bathroom was quite bad and there was not hot water at all also if the stuff promised us for three days. The water machine is really noisy and it's impossible to sleep when they switch it on ( morning 8 o'clock) but once complained they immediatley switched off and in general they were really kind and gentle people.
Well placed outside of the caos of the city but still in walking distance from the centre.
Reccomended to who doesn't want to spend a lot.

We booked a room for 500 inr. This had the door opening outside the house and had a small bathroom In fact, the pipe for the commode was broken and we immediately asked them t change the room. They were courteous enough to give us a better room. However, this bigger room also had a bathroom where you hardly fit. My wife really had problems using this tiny washroom and if we had kown this before, we would not have booked this hotel.

This place is amazing, the staff is very friendly. Since the place is not to big, you can pass your time hearing the great desert histories with the staff. The place is localized in a musicians colony, for this reason, every night a musician plays in the hotel. The food is delicious and you need to drink the mango lassi, is the best that I proved in India, They also arrange safari in the desert with an incredible guide, Daniel.

wonderful place to spend some relaxing days; rooms are very comfortable, clean and furnished in very good taste. On the rooftop, with amazing Jaisalmer Fort view, there is the excellent restaurant with indian dishes and some european specialties (the owner's partner is Austrian); every night, with the sunset lighted fort setting, you can listen to indian music live concerts organized by the owner and his brother; in fact they are musicians and the hotel helps the local musicians association (keep ready to give a little tip to musicians): an extraordinary experience!! The owner is nice and fun, always ready to help, to suggest about everything or just to have a good chat. He knows how to combine western wishes and indian ways, and also can help you in organizing camel tours.

We woke up in the middle of nowhere amongst peacocks and cows as our overnight bus from Jaipur broke down. (Don't do this journey! Always get the train!) After negotiating our way from the desert to jaisalmer with no other English-speakers around we were exhausted, sweaty and unbelievably thirsty when we arrived at Artist Hotel, yet still on hyper-stress mode. The hotel owner came down to the reception area, I start explaining that we have a reservation. She must have seen the utter exhaustion in our faces as she said "woah, woah, woah. Go to your room, wash, rest, then we will check you in and you can have chai on the rooftop." The relief was overwhelming. We did indeed wash and rest in our gorgeous room and clean bathroom. Fantastic view of the fort from the rooftop. Lovely short walk from here to the centre. Would definitely stay here again!!

Fun and nicely decorated hotel. Every night there are musicians playing in the rooftop restaurant (they will ask you for tips before you retire to your room). They go on until midnight, so if you're tired and wanna sleep early, forget it. The music is very loud. In the mornings we heard a lot of noise from the restaurant as well, eventhough we stayed in a room downstairs and on the other side.

They sell camelsafari's but I'd advice you to look further, there are cheaper and better safari-options then what this hotel offers.

Location: 10 minutes walk from Jaisalmer fort, on a hill, nice fort view.

All in all we had a nice stay, but I think there are better options in Jaisalmer.

Room Tip: Rooms on the backside are cooler and away from the sun.
