“good 3,5*-hotel”
Reviewed 30 October 2013

about 4km outside of the old fort of jaisalmer. relatively new built hotel, with a nice distance view to the old city.
a quiet location, nice pool, friendly service. food at good india standard. the last 3 comments about bad food were strange. we had a good experience regarding dinner and breakfast.
service is sometimes a bit reduced, but allways very friendly und forthcoming. they cater also to bus-tours, for dinner and breakfast the timing might be sometimes essential if you travel by yourself. very good and fast WiFi throughout the hotel, free of charge.

This hotel is beautiful, sadly the quality offered inside is awful.
The waiters were more interested in watching TV that serving their customers, the food was terrible. In the morning the restaurant was still dirty from the evening before, the breakfast buffet was cold and not edible. Our TV wasn't working, it took several hours to get this sorted and the person who fixed the problem left a mess in the room. The exchange rate offered was the worst given on my almost 3 week holiday.
This beautiful hotel has so much potential, maybe new management is needed.

Beautiful building from the outside but rooms are not very cleaned and the restaurant service and food was a disaster
First night servers were more interested in watching cricket as to serve us
Breakfast was a disaster cold food not much choice and it seemed as the place wasn't cleaned from the day before
It's a shame for these beautiful walls would not recommend this hotel

we visited jaisalmer just a last week and opted to stay in desert tulip reading the overall review and talking to the reservation desk in person. the hotel os well maintained and at a good lo ation however the food,be it breakfast or dinner is not at all to the standards of a four star. the food was not at all to the indian taste which was promised at the time of booking.also the hotel services and nearly poor with a very badly maintained room service where you need to call in more than twice for anything to happen.and the hot water issue is still persistent after so many negative reviews about it already. In total,my experience with the hotel was bad and i would not recommend it to indians as it is not to our standards.

Although the staff have not yet worked out the British demand for good service - this hotel offers clean rooms with ok food and a lovely pool to relax around!

Room Tip: Rooms are all pretty standard. Most look over the pool - just ensure you ask to be moved if they giv...

We arrive after a full day car in the desert from Jodhpur, and we choise a very full service hotel with a graet suimming pool open till 22.00. We have a upgreat room, very nice room, good restaurant and very kind serice. The crew is professional and i want spend two words for a thanks a Jethudan and Mahendra.
If you want relaxing and refull the energy, this is the place.
Only one negative think you can meet a tourist group in bus.

I stayed in Desert Tulip with my wife in August 2013 and we had a great time. Rooms were modern and clean, the pool is excellent and it was also nice to have a (small) gym there as it was raining a lot. The staff couldn't have been more helpful - they even baked us a cake on India Independence day! We decided we wanted to stay an extra night and when I spoke to the manager and pointed out that the hotels next door were cheaper (on booking.com), he very kindly offered us a discounted rate.
As per other posts, the location is a bit outside Jaisalmer (15mins in a tuk-tuk for about 100Rs or lower depending on your haggling skills) but I think it's a little unfair to complain about this - Jaisalmer is a small walled city in the desert - if you want a spacious resort hotel with a pool then you have to go for out of town.
