“Worth if you are around the area”
Review of Khaba Fort

Khaba Fort
Reviewed 25 February 2014

The abandoned village across the road from this fort gives an interesting experience. This place also has a small ancient temple that gives some photo ops.

Other than this, there are peacocks loitering about the fort walls. Worth a visit if you are on the way to the dunes.

this is hardly a fort as forts go.It was not meant to be either,it was originally meant to be a kind of police station cum meeting place for the maharawal when he came touring in these parts and so it has no fancy carvings, no vast galleries etc.It is a simple stone structure absolutely utilitarian in nature.all that it has are a few pictures and posters about the paliwal brahmins who inhabited the abandoned villages below.
However if you have gone to see the haunted villages of Kuldhara the fort is well worth a visit particularly for the view of the villages from it.you can look down at the ruins of what must have at one time been a largish village and in which every house was abandoned over night when the King cast an evil eye on one of the daughters of the village.
the village is now supposed to be haunted and only the temple is standing.Go to the ramparts and stand there and look out at the scene below- spend 20 mts at it and i can assure you, you will not be disappointed.

Visit only if interested to see a fort in ruins and peacocks in their natural habitat. This is about 15 odd kms from the kuldhara village which is also now a site promoted for its ruins. There is a good view of the desert (the beginning of it) and the adjoining village which was emptied by its residents overnight owing to a Brahmin - Rajput quarrel.

This again can be seen when you are en route to the Sam Dunes.

Once again a place wherein you won't find anything to enjoy and cheer!!!!

We went over there and was not at all surprised when we noticed that we were the only group visiting the place at that point of time!!!
