“Must visit...must must must”
Reviewed 20 June 2014

Its made and maintained by NK sharma,he is truly a legend. He has written over 40 books and is the foremost authority on Rajasthani culture heritage and history. The artifacts collected are mind blowing. Some of the best ever. I have visited many many museums, this one is gonna stay with me forever. Visit this place for the man. He was 90 and still walked the whole way with us. Truly excited to show us the place. I loved the illustrated story tellers. We bought two folk music CDs which truly are aweeesssommmeeee. You must must visit this place.

“Great Show”
Reviewed 20 April 2014

Very entertaining show-the musicians were wonderful and full of energy. The show lasted for about 40 minutes and costs 50 INR/person +50INR if you want to take pictures. We were the only ones there for the show since it is off season but they made us feel very welcome. We walked around the museum beforehand and found all of the owners personal collections quite fascinating. He is such a lovely man who wants to teach and show tourists what life was like-definitely worth a trip during your stay in Jaisalmer!

“The Puppet Show is very good!”
Reviewed 5 April 2014

We didn't see the documentary. But the Puppet Show was simply great! Very different from so many other puppet shows that you see in every city across the country.Beautifully done and dressed puppets. The musicians and support players were excellent. Since there isn't much to do in Jaislamer, this certainly has to be on your itinerary.

“A stellar puppet show”
Reviewed 14 February 2014

I don't know about the museum, but the puppet show every evening is an enchanting experience. It is a string puppet show accompanied with Rajasthani folk song, typically performed by village folks coming from poor backgrounds. Mr. NK Sharma, a retired teacher runs this show, and any collection from this goes towards development of this unique art and supporting the artists. This is a place not to miss in Jaisalmer.

“Quite Frankly Boring”
Reviewed 10 January 2014

I'm usually one for museums, history, and reading but quite frankly I found the place boring. The presentation was like that of a school project. The history and text given was long and dull and it was hard to keep interested. It seemed like the place was packed with the instruments to beef it up, I know they are significant local instruments but to me they didn't add anything to the place. Entry is R50 which is reasonable if you get something out of it, on the flip side you may be fighting to stay after 10 minutes. If you read everything in the place you'll be done in under an hour.
