The Hotel Golden City offers great value for money (especially considering the swimming pool); and for me the location is perfect, being tucked away in a peaceful side street but also within comfortable walking distance of everything that you could need in Jaisalmer. The staff are always friendly and helpful, and I find that the general atmosphere in the hotel is very family-oriented and homelike, which is important to me. The food is also very tasty - thanks to you, Sibu!

We stayed one night in the hotel and made a 3 days 2 nights camel safari in the Thar desert. The staff is very kind and welcoming, there is a nice swimming pool and the rooms are big is a bit dirty for European standards but still good value for money. The camel safari was great, the guide spoke good English and cooked delicious food. The camels were very friendly and the nights under the shooting stars unforgettable. Thanks for a lovely stay in Jaisalmer

I have booked this hotel through internet via IRCTC. We reached the hotel at the dawn and they were humble to pick us up with their scorpio. In fact they have another hotel beside this hotel and they offered us two big rooms there to freshen up with hot showers and morning tea although we had the booking from 10:00 am onwards. They offered this at free of cost. Finally they gave our allotted rooms at this hotel, both with a fort-facing balcony. We took their desert camp safari, although after some bargain and kept those rooms as we earlier paid for those. Their arrangement was nice and cordial and they offered some sight-seeing at return from SAM. They have nice roof-top restaurant and the food quality is good. They also have a swimming pool but as it was a winter time, no one tried it. On the last day I went to Tanot border after check-out with a vehicle hired from outside stand ( a Tata Spacio driven by Mr. Hatti Singh, a very nice young man) and they kept our luggage in their cloak room gladly. I am pleased with the facilities offered. The hotel bears value for money.

I had been to the Hotel in Aug from Hyderabad when i checked-in the room. The TV & A.C wasnot working. The rooms were extremely untidy.Actually they have posted a false photo in the website. The bathroom doors were filled up with bid black ants. They cheat you with false rates regarding desert sight-seeing.They charge Rs7500 for Rs 1800 which is normal rate for desert safari & sam dunes. The Manager is a cheat who is responsible for all false promises.Never never visit this hotel

Room Tip: Never visit this hotel!!It will be a nightmare!!

We are an Australian couple that spent three nights at the hotel. The hotel is very good value for money seeing as though you get a pool, air con and tv. The manager is great too and is always up for a chat.

Very humble rooms, some with access directly to the pool and one with a balcony. Very helpful and friendly staff including the cute rooftop restaurant. Though sometimes for them to properly clean your room you will need some patience and persistence, an apparent necessity for travelling India.

The hotel is nice, in a good location just outside the fort, with a nice view of the fort from the rooftop. the room is spacious and reasonably clean. the AC was not working perfectly, but it was enough to get a relief from the 42 degree heat outside. Good value for what I got, but I fell on their camel safari trap. The experience was nice, I spent a pleasant and safe night in the desert, but later I found I spent almost 3 times more than what was offered by Ganesh Travels (inside the fort) for exactly the same tour (the "non-touristy" dunes).
