I was a solo traveller, however stayed at this hotel as part of an Intrepid 'comfort' tour group. The hotel is situated in a perfect location with markets out the front and a short stroll to the right (5-10 mins) taking you to the fort. The hotel itself is immaculately presented with well manicured grounds. Staff bend over backwards for any request. I loved wandering through the streets, stumbling across further markets (food and souvenirs) and checking out one of the many historical havelis.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the entrance, to avoid being woken up.

We were in Jaisalmer in Mar'14 - stayed at Mandir Palace for 2 nights. Its actually a palace converted into a hotel/resort. So the heritage charm is definitely there. Gives you a peek into the living of old royalties of yore. Staff is very courteous and friendly. Food is good, however trying out food in local restaurants is strongly recommended. The Al-fresco dining experience of Trio restaurant, right outside the palace, with the palace as the backdrop, is a must-do! Although Jaisalmer is a small city, this hotel is located right in middle of the city, so you don't have to worry about travelling to the attractions in the city. An excellent property! However a small improvement suggestion for the management could be to take care of the immediate outside/surrounding areas within the palace walls - it is unclean and unattractive.

Room Tip: Fort View Rooms at the top are good.

We were in Jaisalmer last month for one week part of Rajasthan, India Tour. One of the best historical tour.

The Mandir Palace Heritage hotel had the excelent service. The quality and maintaince of old palace was outstanding. we arrived at the hotel after 7.00PM and we wanted to take tour of the kings museum at the hotel and it was closed. We requested Mr. Bhojraj Singh (Manager), if we can see museum, he open the museum and arrange for tour at night.

If you visit Jaisalmer one of the best place to stay for money.

Located close to Jaisalmer Fort, this property is an erstwhile Palace converted to a Hotel.
This Hotel truly lets you experience the royalty of Rajput Kings in their own palace.
The Staff is ever so courteous and friendly. Rooms are slightly smaller (owing to the old construction design) but very comfortable. Rooms are located in different parts of the palatial Hotel, so walking around the maze of passages gives you a feeling of heritage luxury.
Food was absolutely amazing and we got to taste authentic rajasthani cuisine during our stay.
There are vast areas within the Hotel to rest & relax - swimming pool, garden, verandah, et al.
A memorable stay at this Heritage property !

Still occupied partly by the maharajah we had one of the ancient rooms overlooking a little courtyard - superb and again thanks to Indian Panorama's organisation. Really accommodating staff, beautiful pool and superb roof terrace . . .

Room Tip: Indian Panorama organised all the accommodation and driver for our tour of Rajasthan and beyond...

Mandir palace is situated outside the fort of Jaisalmer. The location helps the tranquility that is present in the hotel.
The rooms are modest and comfortable, and the bathroom needs an upgrade. But the public areas all insert a feeling of luxury and authenticity.
The service is decent , with a friendly manager that will try to help in any need you present to him.
The best thing about the hotel is the food. This was one of the best kitchens we visited in Rajastan and the variety has got a taste for every pallet. The only set back is the distance of the dinning area from the kitchen, which can present some problems, especially on a rainy day.

Thankyou for choosing to stay at Mandir Palace. Our team will certainly look into your suggestions as we belive that the customer is always correct. Your comments are of great value to us in improving our offer.

We are also very happy to learn that you were very satisfied with our choice and taste of cuisine. However I would like to also remind you that since Mandir Palace is a heritage property it is not designed as a hotel. Hence there are some operational problems like the kitchen being far from the restaurant and the Palace not having a large inventory of rooms. Moresoever it is the heritage ambience and the authenticity of being a genuine palace which adds the flavour of revisiting the past in such a old building equipped with all modern facilities.

The old world ambience, central location and modern comforts with a touch of class make it the perfect venue for guests to stay at Mandir Palace. We would look forward to welcome yourself and your friends at the Palace.

This former royal palace has lots of atmosphere. My room was absolutely clean and spotless. It was comfortable and quiet. All the staff were extremely helpful. Twice a junior staff member accompanied me through the maze of streets to the ATM. I would never have found it on my own. Breakfast in the downstairs restaurant was excellent. Dinner in the rooftop restaurant was also excellent. I ate Indian dishes. They were all delicious and freshly cooked and caused me no upset stomach. The waiter very kindly took the time to explain all the names of the dishes to me. At the front desk, they arranged a taxi for me from Jaisalmer th Udaipur - a 9 hour trip - for 8,000 rupees. I had 2 other quotes from small local shops - one for 7,000 and another for 10,000, and I accepted the 8,000 quote from the Mandir Palace because I felt more confident of getting a trouble-free taxi trip. And I was right, the trip went totally fine. The hotel is very close to the entrance to the Jaisalmer fort. In summary, I give this hotel top marks.
