From the moment you enter the Shreenath Palace you know that this is no ordinary hotel. It is, as you soon find out, the home of a family who have lived there for generations and now opened their home to some privileged guests. And believe me you are privileged to be there. The rooms are exquisite - original Rajastani furnishings and wooden shuttered windows looking over the the Jain temple. Marsala Chai in your room on on the roof or downstaris basking in the hosts' hospitality. Om -ji - the father and his sons and cousins - will do everything within their power and then some more to ensure you have an experience that is filled with all that is wonderous about Jaislamer. If you were to ask me two hotels to visit in India - one would be the Imperial Hotel in Delhi and the other would be this one. The only down side is the ache in your heart when you leave.
