“My Indian Home”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 January 2014

I have stayed at this hotel on my many trips to Jaisalmer (usually room 4), so many times that in fact, Omgee and Manoj consider me part of their family. From the very first when the toilet was downstairs and outside in a shack on the verandah to the beautiful en-suite rooms of today the atmosphere has always been exotic (Think Arabian nights) and the service and advice has always been discerning, truthful and very helpful. This advice covers just about anything one wants to do or buy around the area. Omgee's school is worth a visit and school materials are welcome. I cannot recommend this hotel (Home) any higher, and will really give memories that remain forever.
The Jain Temple close by is interesting, and the views of the town from the rooftop at Shreenath is wonderful especially at dusk.
Treat yourself to a wonderful experience that will never fade.
I will be back again!

Room Tip: Room 4 or room 3

We arrived sick after a hellish night bus ride and were pampered beyond our wildest imagination. It was like being at your grandparent's house. They also helped make onward travel reservations which was also great.

The hospitality will be beyond anything you have experienced in a hotel. The owners are concerned for their guests every need and genuinely committed to your having an extraordinary experience in the city that has been their home for generations. The rooms provide you with an authentic experience of what it must have been like to live in a palatial home 400 years ago in one of the most remarkable cities in India. Om-ji the Brahmin owner and his son, nephew and staff are kind humorous and warm in a way that one rarely finds in a hotel. Have traveled extensively throughout the world over the last 40 years, I can say that this hotel stands out as one of the most remarkable and unique experiences I have had. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

We spent three days here and found the hotel to be utterly perfect and faultless. From the moment we arrived to the moment we departed the hospitality and kindness of the hosts was outstanding. They made us feel as though the haveli was our own home. The house absolutely reeks with history and atmosphere. It is wonderfully decorated and full of atmosphere. Location could not be better up on the fort and directly across from the Jain temples. We had the Mughal room which was large and decorated out of the Arabian Nights. There is a roof terrace to watch the sunset. Water is hot, showers are very good. Bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was whatever you wanted. Night time was unexpectedly peaceful given the location right at the heart of the old town. We would love to come back to Jaisalmer and wouldn't stay anywhere else than this now. It really is faultless. Don't hesitate to make a booking

Room Tip: They are all fabulous.

From the moment you enter the Shreenath Palace you know that this is no ordinary hotel. It is, as you soon find out, the home of a family who have lived there for generations and now opened their home to some privileged guests. And believe me you are privileged to be there. The rooms are exquisite - original Rajastani furnishings and wooden shuttered windows looking over the the Jain temple. Marsala Chai in your room on on the roof or downstaris basking in the hosts' hospitality. Om -ji - the father and his sons and cousins - will do everything within their power and then some more to ensure you have an experience that is filled with all that is wonderous about Jaislamer. If you were to ask me two hotels to visit in India - one would be the Imperial Hotel in Delhi and the other would be this one. The only down side is the ache in your heart when you leave.

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights at this haveli on our honeymoon. We really enjoyed our stay. The owner is a lovely man with a big personality and is very helpful and welcoming. Hindu also looked after us extremely well and nothing was too much trouble. We had delicious indian breakfasts in our room each day. Our room was beautiful and very traditional (a little cold but the cold snap was unusual for Jaisalmer and the havelis are not built for cold weather!). We felt like we experienced true indian hospitality during our stay. I would highly recommend staying here if you want an authentic, friendly and un-flashy Indian experience.
