Backpacker Panda Oasis - Jaisalmer
Ranked #48 of 106 Hotels in Jaisalmer
Reviewed 13 November 2012

Run by four enthusiastic brothers, the hotel is bare basics, but it comes with a clean bathroom, clean sheets, close to the fort and decent food. No frills attached but none are needed in my opinion if you have basic cleanliness.
The brothers are helpful and honest which is comforting.
The hotel is well located.
Overall - i would strongly recommend it with he repetition of the caveat - no frills hotel.
I'd suggest you take the room on the top floor with the view.

Room Tip: The room with the view on the top floor is the nicest.

Oasis is a wonderful, small hotel (about 10 rooms I think) just a short walk away from it's 'big sister' Shahi Palace (where we had most of our meals)
We had a free pick-up and drop off, which was fantastic!
When we got there, most of the hotel was empty so we had a choice of rooms. The ones on the ground floor are fairly basic, clean and don't have windows and from there the rooms get bigger, grander and with stunning views. All of the rooms are beautifully decorated.
Although we were told that we could have a simple breakfast at Oasis, we had our meals in Shahi Place instead. The staff were really friendly and the food tasty. They had a varied menu which was great if you needed something other than Indian food! The roof-top is lovely and there is an incredible view of the fort.
We were only asked once if we were interested in a camel tour and weren't hassled at all regarding this - in general the staff were very helpful and provided good information.
The hotel is about a 5-10 minute walk away from the fort and market which is really handy. The thing I loved the most about both Oasis and Shahi, is that it is really quiet and you don't hear the constant traffic and city noise around you!

On our recent trip to Jaisalmer we stayed at the Oasis Haveli. It's run by the same family who own and run Shahi Palace which is just a few houses away. The room we had was large and comfortably furnished. There were beautiful window seats with colourful cushions and curtains and a great view of the fort. Comfortable, clean beds, clean bathroom and readily available hot water. The reception and restaurant are at the Shahi Palace and you need to walk across for meals etc, though they did serve us drinks on the Oasis rooftop. The roof top restaurant at the Shahi Palace has a terrific view of the fort. Stick to the Indian food, which is pretty good. The staff are friendly and helpful and make an effort to ensure your comfort. The hotel is located short, easy walk from the Fort making it convenient to visit the Fort and the town.

Room Tip: For a great view of the Fort, get the room on the second floor, facing the fort. It's also large...

Oasis Haveli is a satellite of Shahi Palace. The hotel offers rooms, all other services are to be obtained from Shahi Palace. 1 person staff generally is friendly. We had to ask for warm water before every shower. This was fixed within 10 minutes.

Food in Shahi Palace is ok.

One point of caution is that the management is very aimed at selling a camel safari, even when stepping outside the hotel they ask where you're going. The camel safari is a interesting experience, value-wise I advise to shop around. My experience was rather disappointing, because although we discussed the details (tent, itinerary, program) they where not confirmed on the receipt and Oasis Haveli proved unable to live up to the expectations.

This stay in Jaisalmer I stayed at Oasis which is a sister hotel of Shahi Palace. It is neslted in a little neighborhood area of Jaisalmer city and within walking distance to the market and fort gate. I found Oasis a great hotel with its large, clean rooms and beautiful decorations. It is smaller than Shahi Palace so not so busy and quieter which I find nice- and with Shahi being so close, I could still enjoy their rooftop resturaunt. The people are also very friendly and more importantly - helpful!! The 4 brothers that own Oasis and Shahi are professional and definately know how to treat the customers and provide a comfortable stay in Jaisalmer. Thanks again for everything to the Oasis\Shahi staff!

Wonderful oasis Haveli, being travelling as a tourist, you need peaceful hotel where you can take good rest and peacefully. Oasis is very nice stone carving, rooms are neat and clean. Good view of golden fort. Hotel management people are very co-operative. Arranging all your city plan with unique Jeep and camel safari must experience. No doubt value for money staying here. If you are staying here you will not feel that you are in unknown place.

We stayed 4 nights in this comfy haveli with beautiful views to the fort. We had all our meals at Shahi Palace, 2 min walk down the street. The management and staff are all very friendly. Thanks to Siva, who was our front desk man and guardian at night. Great location, comfortable room and friendly staff is all what you need. Recommended.
