The cafe is actually not on a terrace or roof as it may sound...... its on d way to d roof top of d fort. But nevertheless its a nice place to hav a grub in d fort. They have a decent spread of dishes and cater to d indian as well as the foreign taste buds. One can have a snack or even a meal. The helping are adequate and tasty. A point to mention the thali is good and d pizza is actually a bread pizza but well made. Surely a must visit if hungry when at d fort.

This place is an oasis in the desert after an exciting but sweltering afternoon in the Mehrangarh Fort. It is a great place to have refreshments within the fort premises. It has got a traditional touch inside with all staff dressed up in a typical Rajasthani attire. This cafe is primarily aimed for international tourists since it is slightly an expensive affair for normal crowd. But going for some refreshments is not a bad option for anyone( if not full-fledged meal ) as it is worth to spend few bucks.

For us Cafe Mehran was a welcome break. We had been walking all morning and reached Mehrangarh at around 11:30 am and were craving coffee so we were more than glad.

Aswe sat we decided to try the Laal Maas Combo and compare the taste with the other Laal Maas we had eaten at other places. The food is served in a plastic plates. It was good but tempered down to suit the international palette. We wanted to experience the extremely authentic Laal Maas and maybe one day in some Rajasthani village we shall find it.

The coffee was not great but was not bad. It did refresh us.

It has indoor as well as outdoor seating. The indoor area feels more formal in terms of the furniture. On the walls hand paintings and portraits of the various Rajput kings and thanks to technology you can instantly Google their names and read about their fascinating lives.

The outdoor area has casual, patio style seating with a canopy which creates interesting patterns when sunlight falls on it. In the winter it is the ideal place to relax and soak in the sun without intensity. As we relaxed under the canopy we were joined by an elderly man who was visiting his King's palace for the blessings and spoke highly about the royalty. He talked to us for about 20 minutes or so and then left.

The staff is active and sincere but they don't seem to smile too often. They will respond to your smile with a smile and then they become like soldiers but with a different purpose. They dress up in the traditional way and were very neat. The area has been maintained very well.

So even though it is on a slightly more expensive side (paid around 150 for coffee that too a regular cup) do take a break and relax at Cafe Mehran before you proceed further. They have other food options as well and perhaps next time I will order a few sandwiches.

Yes, there are multitude of these over - priced restaurants within the premises of Fort across Rajasthan, especially in Jaipur. This place is run by the very trust which manages the fort and while we were initially skeptical, but it was a welcome experience.

The rajma dish comes with rice, an impressive salad and a good portion. The burger was farily continental (veg) with fries and a good lebanese salad. We ordered the mix parantha, and they were the most impressive with huge portions and raita.

This is not an expensive place and hence a must visit if you want to soak in the atmosphere of this wonderful fort.
