“'Fantastic Ratan Vilas!'”
Reviewed 11 February 2014

Stayed at this amazing Hotel in for two nights in Jan 2014. I'd been travelling around Northern Rajasthan then came to this place. Quite superb. You turn in from a busy road down a short driveway lined with mature trees, bushes, shrubs and flowers. To the right a swimming pool, to the left a large marquee where I later discovered breakfast was served. In front the fantastic beautiful main hotel. A unique terracotta building. Reception staff were gracious, humble and polite. My huge, well appointed room was just about perfect. 2nd floor. Exactly what I was looking for, for my two nights, my only regret is I wish I could have stayed longer. Jodhpur is brilliant !! Combine this with a stay at the Ratan Vilas and, 'you've cracked it!' MV spices down by the Clock Tower is a must place to get your spices. Meals at the hotel are a must. Breakfast is buffet style but Silver Service if you prefer, lots of choice. At night the place comes into its own. Dinner was served in the superb courtyard. Candlelights on tables and large controlled fires kept us, the guests warm and created that unique,'Ratan Vilas' atmosphere. The attentive, knowledgable staff recommended meals that suited everyones palate. Then one morning a very beautiful, elegant Indian lady asked if I was enjoying my stay. I said, 'yes, very much so.' She went on to explain how she and her husband owned the Hotel. We spoke for half an hour about the hotel, its fascinating history and there involvement with the Royal Family of Jodhpur, amazing!!
To sum up this was one of my, 'highlight hotels' of my three week trip to India.
Thank you Ratan Vilas.
Andrew Lloyd.

We had a very enjoyable stay here (late January) between Jaisalmer and Narlai; in fact we thought the 3 nights we had in Jaisalmer, Jodhpur and Narlai were the best of our 15 day trip. Lovely room and nice bathroom, breakfast was more than adequate. Would stay again.

Fresh french-press indian coffee, darjeeling tea and a fabulous breakfast under a block printed tent. Incredible tandoori dishes in the candle-lit courtyard, charming staff, clean rooms and good bathrooms. Though it is now too cool to swim, Ratan Vila has a gorgeous pool for which we hope to return to this summer. Highly recommended!

Room Tip: Suites have huge tubs and standard rooms have showers as far as I know...

We started our 2 week journey around Rajasthan with a 3 night stopover at the Ratan Vilas in Jodhpur, what a great place to start our travels.

Ratan Vilas is an oasis away from the busy city, but not far from the centre of Jodhpur.

The Haveli is beautifully maintained, rooms were spacious, with every facilities, the courtyard in the centre was a great spot to relax and have a beer, the gardens and pool were very well maintained, spotless.

Breakfast was taken outside in a marque and was great, not just Indian food but continental as well, eggs cooked to perfection.

The staff from room boys to manager/owner were exceptional, very helpful, polite, nothing too much trouble.

I would like to thank the front desk staff once again for arranging for my wife's purse to be transported to Jaisalmer after she left it in reception, you could only get that service in Amazing Indian.

Give Ratan Vilas a try, you won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: A Ground Floor Room probably better, as it is cooler.

We stayed at the Ratan Vilas in early January 2014. The heritage hotel is set on very large grounds, back from the street, away from all the noise of Jodhpur. The rooms are set around internal courtyards, with seating areas, charming settings for a quiet relax. Our room and bathroom were extremely large and very well appointed with everything that you could possibly desire. It was very cold when we were staying at the Ratan Vilas, and a heater was provided for the room to make it warm and cosy. Dinner in the evening was in one of the beautiful Courtyards with the seating around two bonfires. It was a lovely serene setting and one which we will not forget, along with the large menu of food choices. Around the common areas of the Hotel and in the rooms, were a stunning assortment of family portraits, block print fabrics and antique furniture, these spaces were all inviting, spacious and well appointed. The Hotel has a very large pool and surrounding area, which was spotlessly clean, and looked very inviting indeed. The owner of the Hotel, Maharaj Singh and his family were charming, and would make time every day to speak with us regarding our travels. Staying at the Ratan Vilas was a delight and we certainly discovered real Rajput hospitality!!

Room Tip: All rooms would be a good choice

Ratan vilas is very good place to stay in jodhpur. Good staff. Food options are limited because of the food culture of Jodhpur. But they have plenty of options in breakfast. Very well maintained rooms with ethnic Rajasthan feel. It makes you feel haveli like. We should stay at least for two days. I will love to stay their again.
