I am in agreement with other recent reviews. I have to say was a little reticent at first. The location out of town and in what at first feels like a rather odd area, turned out to be a plus once discovering the noise and delightful (for a few hours) chaos inside the city. Its close enough to everything including the airport which was a big bonus when we were trying to squeeze so much into such a short time. I think a bit more could be done with the inner courtyards and inside lounge as the initial impression wasn't great. However, this was a place that really grew on me. The service and hospitality was fantastic. The food was good (agree re. the music but when I asked at breakfast, they immediately turned it off). A problem with operating our shower was sorted so quickly and pleasantly. Wi-fi available in one part of the building, if they can extend to the rooms, would be really great. Our room was spacious, clean and nicely decorated with very comfortable beds and a couple of others that I visited with the bathtubs and more modern bathroom style were even more appealing. Very nice colonial style building, lovely garden, SUPER pool area and extremely good rates. I was on a recce for a group tour with ladies later in the year and after looking at several other places, will not hesitate to come back here.

Room Tip: Ask for one in the first section with a bathtub as the bathrooms seemed a lot more modern.

We stayed at the Ratan Villas last week and we're disappointed that we had only one night. It is a beautiful hotel reminiscent of the colonial period with photos from the era decorating the walls. Has a fabulous atmosphere and excellent service. Highly recommended.

We were very pleased with the Ratan Vilas hotel in Jodhpur. It is located a bit away from the city center, which made us hesitate at first, but we were glad, as it was a quiet location.

The hotel is situated in the midst of lovely gardens with a wonderful swimming pool. Our rooms were very comfortable, clean and lovely. We were happy to have a large bathtub with plenty of hot water.

The staff were always very kind, helpful, and polite.

We did eat both breakfast and dinner at the hotel. The food was very good. However, the service at dinner is quite slow, and the loud banging of the Rajasthani music is a bit tiring.

Room Tip: I believe any room would be good.

A brilliant little interlude in our noisy, exciting, chaos filled Rajasthan adventure!!! Wished we could have spent longer here in the Blue City...much to see and do. The Fort simply brilliant, as are the saffron lassis!!
Hotel, including staff uniforms, reminiscent of the Raj era. Beautiful welcome on arrival. Rooms clean, spacious. Delightful grounds including gorgeous, relaxing pool area. Breakfast served under a beautiful canopied area- good variety. Drinks and snacks can also be served on the tranquil verandah.
Free wi fi available, and also a computer for guests to use if needed.
Location good, away from the noise of the Old City but only a short tuk tuk or taxi ride away.
Rishi, is a tuk tuk owner who touts for business at the front of the hotel. Excellent English- a knowledgeable and very inexpensive guide- highly recommended.
If you have had a busy schedule this is a delightful, and inexpensive, oasis to recharge the batteries.

I travelled with my wife & 4 year old naughty son. It was one of the best hotels we stayed in. Excellent location & facilities. Specious rooms & hotel premises. Absolutely worth ...

Things can be improved: Very minimal ones but we should improve all time :)...
1) Provide small garbage bin room as well (apart from wash room).
2) Bathroom sleepers will a good addition as well.

Room Tip: Choose rooms in first courtyard to get some wifi connectivity in room.

I was on a family vacation in Rajasthan in March - mainly in Jodhpur and Jaisalmer. Initially there was a scepticism on the hot weather during this time but the weather was good with bright sunny days and gentle breeze in the evening.

I am a frequent visitor to Jodhpur for official trips and stayed different hotel and resorts, so this time it was a tough job to decide on the hotels - one option was to book the known hotel where stayed in or ventured out a new one.

After some initial survey, I choose "Ratan Vilas" ( I never stayed here before) and I am highly satisfied with the service and hospitality. My feedback...

1.Booking: booked directly with the hotel, they are quite responsive and replied all the queries quickly. On the day of travelling I got the call for pick up facility (by Mr. Harish and Ram) and everything was well organised.

2. Check in: hassle free; it was an early check in. The rooms were ready and didn't take few minutes to get in.

3. Rooms: I stayed in couple of heritage properties, and in general the rooms are not very open. In Ratan Vilas, the rooms were modified so the they are compatibly bigger, the Bathroom is spacious with all the facilities. The general in-room facilities (tea maker, mini bar, cable TV) are available, however there were no mirror in our room. The WiFI facility is not available in the rooms but available in the reception area.

4. Ambience: I really like the over all ambience of this hotel. There is a big lawn, swimming pool and quite a open space - so perfect way to relax and spend time with family. The hotel is also centrally located, so easily approachable from the main shopping joints.

5. Food: The breakfast spread are having both indian and continental. The important thing is that the buffet spread has been changed regularly with minor variations ( I have seen in most of the hotels the breakfast buffet is same for all the days !) - in general the hotel staffs were very courteous, taken individual care for each guests. Mr. William's hospitality is worth mentioning for his individual attention. In lunch and dinner, ala karate is available with Rajasthani, Indian and continental foods- in general we liked the foods.

We had tried couple of restaurants in Jodhpur- Hanumant Mahal, On The Rocks, RAAS- Darikhana - all are very good and will write separately.

6. Overall: highly recommended for the family vacation

We stayed here for 2 nights on the recommendation from our Agents, Indian Excursions, and had a fabulous time. The owner, Mr Singh and his wife were charming, as were all of the staff, the rooms were lovely, the grounds and pool first class. We even shared in the family celebrations on Holi Day (17th March), which really added to our enjoyment. Will definitely return....
