My family ate dinner here in Dec 2012, and we are still talking about the experience. This restaurant is located at the ultra-beautiful Umaid Palace Hotel. From the Fort across town, the Umaid Palace looks like a mirage-- a dream reminiscent of the Taj Mahal on the horizon. Arriving at the hotel is already a beautiful view with a winding driveway to the top of a little hill. Walking through the lobby is a treat for the eyes (and ears and nose). Make sure you have some time to look around at the treasures, beautiful architecture, and side rooms (bar, billard room, reading room, etc). As for dinner, what a treat! The food is among the best we've had in India, and the menu is extensive. Service is at the Taj level of exemplary attention to detail. Reservations are very complicated--- took me too many calls and emails to sort this out, as the hotel maintains the Taj exclusivity (bordering on snob treatment) where people not staying at the hotel are definitely treated as 3rd class citizens---and they need to tone this down. Prices are also at the Taj (high) level... so don't get a heart attack when you see the bill. But it's worth it--- for the all-in luxury and beauty of the experience.
