It's a palace turned hotel belonging to the erstwhile Maharaja of Jodhpur. I was told that it used to be the summer palace of the King and the Queen. Every aspect of this palatial hotel retains the royal feel of the bygone era.The time we checked in, we got an exhilarating welcome by the gorgeous peacocks roaming the lawns as if they owned them. The estate is huge, and the residential units are divided into two blocks, one across a sprawling garden and the other overlooking a beautiful lake, from which it derives its name. The architecture of the palace, the lake and the surrounding campus made of huge blocks of solid rock which still stand sturdy, are sure to mesmerize you with how impeccable and advanced Indian architecture has been, meticulously nurtured by the Royals.
The food was good and the staff, who were dressed as in the days of the King, were exceptionally courteous.
A wonderful experience at Bal Samand that will remain forever to cherish.

This hotel is a brilliant break from the business of the city. We stayed in a garden room, which was spacious with its own back courtyard and front verandah overlooking the well manicured gardens. Peacocks wander around the gardens, birds a plenty and some monkeys (no trouble). WiFi was available with no drop outs. We ate dinner at the outside restaurant, Kebab Corner. Staff attentive, courteous and helpful and food was delicious - loved the kebabs. Breakfast was plentiful with some food cooked to order.

Beautiful property located in acres of lush green lawns and orchards. Sumptuous food, grand decor reminds you of the royal era, rooms carved out of the royal stables very well decorated to make you comfortable, explore with long walks or cycle ride.

After 2 weeks in some of the busiest cities in India, arriving at this retreat was definitely an incredible treat. The property is immaculate in presentation with an abundance of wildlife and gardens including a beautiful pool, lake, and walking tracks. Our room was large and stocked with all we needed. The all important bed, linens and bathroom couldn't be faulted. The restaurants have welcoming, helpful staff that catered to us like we were the only ones there and the food is more than delicious. Jitender Singh the property manager was extremely friendly, professional and could help with anything we needed. Wifi is the only thing that can be a little slow but not a big issue -
would highly recommend a stay here to anyone.

Beautifully located and preserved palace. A lovely lake, with great photo ops and a quaint restaurant serving fabulous food. Our group of 14 (8 adults, 6 kids) ha a blast checking out the lake, stables, were able to spot a dancing peacock, and enjoy the best dessert platter ever!
Absolute must do.
** Want to come back and stay here next time around in jodhpur.
** Special thanks to Sawai, Narendre Singh, Amit Agarwal & Sehdev who made our time there super pleasant!!
