We stayed at The Leela Palace, Udaipur for the last two nights of a two week trip. From the moment of our arrival by boat to our departure, we were treated better than royalty. We don't want to give too much away by going into detail, as there are many wonderful surprises to be enjoyed when staying here. Our suite looked out over the lake and was beyond luxurious. There were lots of edible treats scattered about the room to make the stay special. One of us fell on the rice pudding as if he had never seen food before (it reminded him of school dinners). The bed was wonderful. We ate in the restaurant in the evening which was a little soul-less because it was very large and not very full. The food was excellent however. The following night we ate at the outdoor restaurant which was also full of surprises and well worth the experience at no extra cost. We enjoyed sitting by the lovely swimming pool and then moving to sit by the lake to watch the sun going down and the wide variety of birds heading home to bed. Take your binoculars.
Service was fantastic and staff charming, particularly poolside and on reception. We were given a delicious packed breakfast to take with us on our early flight out which proved to be very welcome
Udaipur was our favourite place on our trip. It is a beautiful, dignified city and should not be missed.
This hotel will be difficult to beat.

I was the part of a recent marriage group the hotel was perfect. staff was courtious, food was amazing location the ambiance was great. rooms had a fantastic lake view and were very tastefully designed and decorated. only thing which i found little bit awkward in this hotel which i have never seen any where else before in any 5* hotel is all managers wear dark MIB style glasses even when talking to guest which i found kinda like a barrier.

Room Tip: book at least 2 month prior to the traveling dates

Right from the moment we boarded the jetty to the hotel we knew it was going to be a wonderful experience. We spent 2 nights at the Leela Palace and were amazed by its splendor. rooms had a fantastic lake view and were very tastefully designed and decorated. Our Personal Butler was very helpful and courteous. The entire staff was pleasant throughout our stay and treated us as though we were royalty. Will recommend this place to everyone visiting Udaipur.

Rooms with fantastic lake and City Palace view. You arrive at the hotel by boat. Great surroundings with design fountains and beautiful marbles.
Beautifully decorated rooms fully equipped. The staff very polite and friendly which just needs a little bit more training. Great staff the young boy at the pool very helpful and polite who was more than willing to do overtime in order for us to enjoy the pool. ( we went to the pool just before 8 at night).
Excellent breakfast and restaurant .

This hotel has blown away all our thoughts with the kind of quality, service, rooms and food that they had provided to us. After being to many hotels like the leela goa, taj exotica, taj village, leela kovalam, etc. and resorts all over India and abroad like taj langkawi, this hotel has proven to be the best so far.

1. Checkin - perfect - direct to the room - introduction to the very efficient personal butler - just 1 signature and an id proof with scanning directly in the room - explanation of the room complete.

2. Room - 1st Category room - Spacious - Personal Wardrobe area (not expected anywhere) - Separate Bathtub area - Separate loo and shower area. - Outdoor balcony overlooking the lake and the palaces.

3. Restaurant - 1 restaurant working in the month of September - food quality - perfect - we had Italian and Chinese in dinner. Perfect to the taste and preference.

4. Breakfast - Perfect - A small spread of cold items. So we can pick up and go to our Table outdoor and indoor. I preferred outdoor as it was a very beautiful lawn. The hot food had to be ordered from the menu with all the preferences one would want. Nothing I would ask for otherwise.

5. TUK TUK - This is a must as it is a 5 star auto rickshaw. It has cold water, pillows and cold towels at your behest. Tour around the city in it and you will go again for sure. The driver of the tuk tuk very very informative and will take you to the right places for shopping or sightseeing.

6. SPA - I think the best spa I have personally ever been to. Got a regular Finnish (if i am not mistaken) Massage done. And the lady masseur was very good. She really did know the points where one can really feel relaxed after 1 hour. I am genuinely impressed.

7. Butler - Very impressed with the personalized service received in the room. Ask for whatever and you will get it. Most of it for free.

8. Baby Cot - a Mothercare baby cot with mother care bedding and blanket. Impressive. You guys did not leave any stone unturned.

9. Swimming Pool - a Huge pool with 5.7 feet depth throughout. 1 letdown as I would prefer a little less depth at the start at least. But still acceptable. The pool people provided us with free cold towel and water and a drink which impressed us further.

10. The Area - Very very beautiful made place with a lot of black and white stone flooring which is very beautiful to the eyes. A lot of sit out areas where you can sit and overlook the lake and the palaces with a good glass of wine, beer or tea.

I had to write about all of the above as the experience has truly been a wonderful one.

Thanks Team Leela.

Room Tip: You need to take a higher room to have a more better view of the lake and the palaces. I had a outdo...

My husband and I spent 3 nights here as part of a recuperative process following suregery in India from 29 Sept till 2 October 2011. We couldnt have chosen a better place to relax and unwind , enjoying the beautiful surroundings after such a stressfull period.
Whilst our purpose was purely relaxation , this property is a perfect location for a honeymoon, anniversary celebration, romantic getaway or for those looking for a few days of indulgence.
When planning this weekend getaway, I had a choice of 3 luxury properties on Lake Pichola but am so glad I chose the Leela ,for it most certainly seemed to be the best as far as location, view and accessibility.
Our magical weekend began with airport pickup and a relaxing drive in a comfortable hotel sedan to the jetty area where a hotel boat waited to transport us across the lake early in the evening just as all the surrounding places and properties were lit up. The welcome was amazing and even more so authentic as we disembarked at the Leela Palace to the soothing sounds of Rajasthani Tabla musicians. The flrst impression of the resort was overwhelming, serene and with a profound sense of luxury and uniqueness.
we were immediately taken up to our room on the 3rd floor whioch enjoyed a beautiful view of the lake, Adjacent property of The Oberoi Udaivillas and Aravali mountain range beyond. Each floor has its own butler service which is very prompt to respond to any request almost withing minutes. The rooms were spacious and very tastefully furnished with one of the most comfortable beds and objects de art, as well as a small lounge area stretching to the balcony with an incredible view. A big plus were the ample sized bath and shower areas as well as a spacious walk in closet for baggage storage and mirrors galore.
This room was equipped with every amenity one could require and the fruit and traditional sweets provided each day just gave it the extra touch.
The entire hotel complex is so beautiful and tasteful in decor that one had the feeling of meandering through an art gallery. As this hotel is situated directly on the lake with immediate access to the water ways , I would rate it the best from all the properties aroud the lake. A beautiful water feature graces the main open area and easily accessible from the main restuarant and its from here that one has magnificent views of the awesome City Palace complex, The Taj lake Palace and some of the other well know properties. The main pool is beautiful and huge and has two large sculputured peacocks gracing the entrance.
We had a wonderful spa experience in large tented cabins and the spa grounds are rather extensive .
Our dining experience was superb and each dish was prepared and presented in top quality masterchef style. Our tastebuds were certainly subjected to an amazing delightful adventure as each dish was made to perfection and very flavourful.
The service was outstanding and commendable, from the meet and greet at airport to the welcome at the jetty, butler service, inroom check in, housekeeping, doormen, pool attendants, restuarant waiters and transport staff.
Apart from relaxation, we use the hotel private TUK TUK to transport us on our tours to the City Palace and Vintage museum as well as shopping in the very quaint lanes of Udaipur. This city is certainly a tourist paradise and one can spends hours browsing the narrow lanes seeking out souveniers and colourful embroidered textiles.
A highlight of our stay was a trip to the Monsoon Palace high up in the hills with sweeping and panoramic views of the city and lake beyond.
This was my second visit to the city, the last in the mid 1980`s when i was still a teenage girl on vacation with my parents. Although the city is more developed now and many more properties stand out, it has not lost its original charm.
There is nothing more beautifu land romantic than enjoying the view at night across the lake as the lights twinkle in the horizon and on the lake.
This has got to be one of the best resorts we have expereinced thus far, having travelled extensively in the past.
I will most certainly give the Leela Palace a 7 star rating.. I couldn`t find even the slightest fault even if I looked for it.
Highly recommended and a must visit for anyone who is in need of indulgence and pampering.Huge praises for the staff who went that extra mile to make our stay so memorable.

Room Tip: High floor , preferably ask for a room facing the Lake front that has view of the City Palace as wel...
