We spent two nights in Udaipur at the Leela Palace. At the time occupancy seemed very low so the hotel was quiet and tranquil - as befits its beautiful setting.

As the road entrance to the hotel is by a series of very narrow and busy side streets, most guests arrive by boat across the lake. This is a wonderful way to arrive and creates a relaxed feel from the outset.

Our room overlooked the lake and provided fabulous views. It was spacious and extremely comfortable. Service was of a very high standard and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in such a wonderful location.

We had a couple of relatively minor niggles

* Nobody came to collect our bags as requested when we checked out
* There is unwanted early morning noise from staff moving tables and chairs on the terrace outside

Due to the lakeside location, mosquito protection is needed.

On checking out we were inadvertently overcharged - something that I failed to notice. However a member of staff drove out to the airport to apologise and hand over cash representing the over payment. This was a stunning gesture that spoke volumes for the quality of service and left us highly appreciative.

PS - This hotel charges for internet access, a practice I deplore. It provides TV for free so why not internet access too?

Oh My God!!! a feeling i had often during my stay. We stayed at the Leela Udaipur for 4 days in october. We were lucky to catch their October discounts and get a good deal else we would have stayed elsewhere. I am so glad we stayed here. This is one of the very Best Hotels i have ever stayed in.

Their property is perfect, brand new and swanky, its beautifully done up and the lake view rooms have a gorgeous view. Its on the banks of River Pichola, so you need to take a boat to the hotel. They have a beautiful jetty near City Palace. I have yet to see such an exclusive jetty. And the best thing about the Hotel is the staff. Starting from the driver who picked us up from the airport to the security guard to the Butler to the front office. They were impeccable in their service and made you feel very special. Like absolute royalty.

And its the little touches that make the stay perfect. The courteous staff at the jetty. The welcome rose petals shower and picture.

They have a beautiful pool and everyday they would give us a complimentary ice box with yummy iceteas and fresh fruits while we swam. I was travelling with a 2.5 year old and what was heartwarming was that by the second day everybody called her by name.

Any hotel staff who saw us carrying even a small bag would offer to carry it. if we were walking in the sun, somebody would materialise with an umbrella.

The food was excellent. Their Seesh Mahal retaurant serves excellent Indian food, and is also very popular, as on the last day when we wanted a reservation it was fully booked. but they were kind enough to serve us food from Seesh Mahal in their Dining Room.

The private dining concept which to most of us is room service was a new concept to us. When you order room service, they do not just send food up. They send a server who will set the table in your room with table mats plates and cutlery and even serve you in the room.

so there are tons of little thoughful things the hotel did and it would take forever to write, but all in all if in Udaipur Leela is the place to stay.

This hotel was by far the best hotel that we stayed in during our trip to Rajasthan. The welcome when we arrived, the uniformed escort shading you from the sun, the band playing, the rose petals and the flower garland were all lovely. The room was very individual with a beautiful view of the lake and city palace and the bathroom and toiletries were excellent quality. The staff were friendly and couldn't do enough to help you.
The indian meal we had on the terrace overlooking the lake was first class with the benefit of many stories from the waiter to add to the experience. One tip is, if possible, stay for the last few days of Septemeber before the prices double in October. Everywhere is quieter and the weather doesn't dramatically change overnight.
I would certainly return to this hotel for, you really are made to feel like a Maharani!

This is my first visit to a Resort owned by Leela Group and i am thrilled by the unparalled levels of service in India. The Hotel is set in beautiful surroundings with breathtaking views and when i entered the Grand entrance of Hotel i was in total AWE.

The Staff ensured their best and we felt like Kings until our check out. The rooms are tastefully designed with Luxurious interiors and can be compared with the Burj Al Arab and some of the best hotels in the world. The food was great, however was spicy for my pallete.
The welcome at the Hotel,Service in Restaurants and friendliness of the staff makes it a complete experience to remember.

The overall service in general was great expect for two staff members we had encountered who doesnt seem to be very happy with the Management. Our wake up call was missed on of the days and their Front desk manager Mohut did spoke to us how it was missed but never bothered to extend an simple apology. The second staff member i believe from Housekeeping whose name i dont remember was not hands on at his job and seems to be unhappy in general.

Honestly the above issues didnt spoil our experience and we had a fabulous stay and i will go back one day with my children.

We booked this hotel for our honeymoon. The royal service started right from the moment we landed at the airport and continued with us throughout!!

We have stayed at many hotels over the years, often luxury ones with impeccable details and fantastic designs. But the comparison fails: The Leele Kempinski, Udaipur . Yet, in years from now, I’m sure we will still fondly remember the vacation we had there. Thank you very much for making our stay so pleasant!!!
