“Homely ambience”
Reviewed 4 November 2011

The hotel is situated in the heart of the city and overlooks the Fatehsagar Lake. The rooms are spacious and aesthetically decorated. The rooftop restaurant was good and attracted many localites. The hotel is value for money.

I stayed at Hotel Panna Vilas Palace in Sep-11 along with my wife (calling this as Palace is actually big mistake and infact calling hotel is a BIG JOKE) . It was like entering a museum and the place was like a Guest house ...there was no one at the hotel when I stayed here and still the service was so horrible .... Roof top restraunt was only visited by local guys for drinks and hooka. They charge 10% extra for room service and all the items mentioned in the Menu were not available ...Food was very less in Quantity and full of oil. I deeply regret for booking this hotel for the price of INR 2600 per Night WITHOUT complementary Breakfast. There was NO Tea or Coffee maker in the Room as advertised on the hotel's website ...Power backup was not working and power used to go off every now & then. Toliets were horrible (old style bathroom) You can easily find much cheaper and better hotels at the bank of the Lake but don't stay at Panna Vilas if you want to enjoy in Udaipuir

We had a very pleasant stay at this hotel. Rooms were of a good size, clean and comfortable. Decoration of the hotel and the rooms seemed to be of the colonial past. Plenty of old weapons and photographs on the walls.
Quiet area, with good views especially from the roof top restaurant. Used by Indian tourists too.
We had difficulty ordering any food that was not Indian even though there was an international menu too.
Staff were friendly and helpful.

A charming hotel with a historic feel. Rooms were spacious and nicely deocrated - albeit with a bit of a fushty smell in the rooms. However, it was clean, bug free and comfortable with ample hot water. Roof top restaurant had stunning views across the lake and also served up a tasty yellow dal. Travelling on a tight budget we were very happy with this hotel and would happily stay here again.

We visited Udaipur in October 2010 and after having an unpleasant stay at another hotel, decided to move to Hotel Panna Vilas for 3 days.

Hotel Panna Vilas offered a breath of fresh air when we entered into it. Although some construction work was going on when we went there, the staff made sure it didnt affect our stay in any way. The rooms - which they call as Chambers of Prince, Chambers of Duke etc. were quite spacious and comfortable. The attached bathroom was also quite big with continous hot and cold water supply. However, they could have put a better TV in the room!

The hotel was near Fatah Sagar Lake and one could take a small walk to enjoy the camel ride offered near the lake. There were 4-5 rooms on the same floor and in between them there was a big living room with outside view which anybody could use to chill out.

The greatest part was their awesome room service. Breakfast was included in our booking and we could just order anything we wanted for the breakfast. They had some awesome paranthas, juices, idlies, biryanis etc and one could eat as much as sufficient for the whole day without any extra cost!

To add to this, the staff was quite courteous and they welcomed us like their personal guests. Also, they arranged outside transport for us at without any additional charge and offered free wifi in the room.

A great value for money...one can just go and relax there..hotel offers wonderful food and rooms offer wonderful sleep....would love to go back there again..!
