The guest house has a great location, close to the Ghats, the City Palace and everything else you will be wanting to see in Udaipur. It's rooftop and the restaurant are excellent. They cook everything from scratch and the food is delicious. We tried it the first evening and decided not to even bother going somewhere else. Also our room was gorgeous, on the very top floor and with a great lake view. The biggest plus to us was excellent hot water availability and water pressure: the best we had in India!

Room Tip: Make sure you get the room on one of the top floors and on the side of the building that has a lake...

Pros:
Owners are very hospitable and offered us a rickshaw drive essentially everywhere ! We were picked up from the station as well.

It's so cheap, amazing value for money.
The rooftop has an incredible view.
The food is pretty good and very cheap.
Everything in rooms is very well presented and clean.

Cons:
On the last night the toilet back logged and smelt the room out of sewage. However the young man that worked there immediately helped us and fixed the problem.

There are many stairs to climb up if that's a problem for you!

Otherwise this has been my favourite place to stay thus far and it is in an amazing amazing location near all the shops.

We stayed for an intended two nights in the fifth floor room but then added a third cause we were enjoying it so much. If possible get the fifth floor room has two full walls of windows with views over the lake and the city. The owner came and picked us up from the bus stop even though we didn't organise prior he just found us and took us back. He also made the rest of our stay so easy helping organise tours and stuff for way cheaper than what was offered on the street. Highly recommended

As part of our one month trip in India we came to Udaipur from Jaipur by train. Owner Sajid send the taxi to pick us up as we arranged it when we book over the phone. We didnt have hot water the night we arrive but that was only that night. we took the 5th floor room over looking Laka Pichola which was so beautiful. Breathtaking view throughout. It was lovely and chilly and there was no need to use the air-conditioner :)
Food was fabulous we enjoyed every bit of it and the service. We did have room service from morning till 11pm and we used room service quite often.
Sajid helped us picking places to go, it was he who suggested us the traditional dance event which happen at Bagore ke Haweli, which we loved.
This hotel has no lift and it could be tiring if u pick rooms higher floor, which one must do if like to have some nice view from room.

Room Tip: Rooms on higher floor on Lake pichola side are very beautiful. Lower floors and opposite side room g...

We had a great experience although we had no hot water as well as a sewerage smell in our room. The laundry is also a bit pricey. But overall we had a great time at kesar, rooms were spotless and the rooftop restaurant was tasty. Staff were also very friendly.
If you get a rickshaw driver named Billu from the train station he'll take you there as he's mates with the owner, together with a cheap ride there

My husband and I stayed in a non-lake view, non-A/C room for 2 nights. Despite the heat outside it stayed quite cool and comfortable in the room. The window had a screen on it which was very nice for keeping bugs out. Very spacious room with lots of universal outlets. Hot water, soap, towels, and free wifi all included. Best part about staying here was the location--5 minute walk to just about anywhere in the Old City so no need for transportation.

Rooftop restaurant upstairs was inexpensive and the food was good. Wonderful view, especially at sunset.

Only downside was when we asked if we could keep our room later after checkout (evening flight) they said it was booked but allowed us to store our bags in a room downstairs. When we walked past the room after breakfast (maybe an hour after checking out) we noticed that the linens had not been changed, simply smoothed out and the blankets refolded. Makes me wonder how many other people slept on those unwashed sheets before we did. Sigh.

Despite that, I'd still recommend...just make sure you have a travel sheet.

The cheaper rooms are really value for money! They're big, nicely decorated and clean with a basic toilet (we didnt get hot water). The view from the rooftop restaurant is beautiful and the management is helpful. Working wifi and laundry service. Would stay here again!
