“No frills but lovely service away from the tourist traps”
Reviewed 16 August 2011

This was probably the most basic place we stayed during our trip. But we did stay at some other pretty special places so it's all relative. It was nice and clean but maybe a little lacking in atmosphere. However the lovely guy behind reception was really sweet and very friendly and helpful. The room was nice with a good view over the ghat. Nice food in the restaurant and lovely views. We liked that this was a little away from the main tourist side of town. About a 10 min walk. We liked that you saw a bit more of non touristy udaipur. The lake this hotel overlooks is very pretty and used by the locals. We saw local women washing after attending a funeral. Odd to say but this was one of the prettiest sites we saw on udaipur. Hotel also booked up a cycle rickshaw for a tour of the lake one evening which was really fun. Much better than the taxi tour we booked ourselves which was a bit dull and we were taken to too many rural sites ( shops !). Overall a basic place but lovely personal service.

“Relaxing hidden-away location with peaceful view of Lake Pichola”
Reviewed 25 July 2011

This restaurant is a little outside the main tourist trap, on the west side of 'Brahmpole' and Lake Pichola. Just follow the main road over the bridge from Chandpole; go straight on through Brahmpole, and turn off the main road to the right immediately before you get to a large green & white mosque - there is a big sign. Then there is a winding alley that goes to the lake, and the guest house/restaurant is right at the end of the path. It is well worth the walk, because from the rooftop you get a stunning and unusual view of the lake.
We came back several times to this place because it was delightfully relaxing and peaceful after the bustle of the town. Neeraj, the young owner, is very friendly and obliging and made us feel really welcome. We sat on one of several raised balconies with cushions that overlook the lake - very ethnic and Indian!
The service was friendly, and they keep you busy with free snacks while your order is being prepared: delicious free pappads and coriander-mint sauce comes with the beer! The food was fresh and good and very reasonably priced - we chose Chicken Afghani and Chicken Mughlai one night, and a spicy mutton dish and Biryani the second night. Sorry we didn't have a chance to sample more. We would heartily recommend!

“a fine dinner”
Reviewed 18 December 2010

Recently we visited the resaurant of the hotel Sargam Sadan in Udaipur. We were surprised and enthusiastially of the view, which one has on the lake Pichola as well the Palast and the Lake Hotel. The restaurant served fresh tandori fish and a good selection of Indian dishes. The service was good and the attentive effort of the owner Mr Neeraj to prepare for us a pleasent stay gave us a great time and fine dinner.
