“Excellent hotel. Big rooms, very clean, and good value if you come alone with no Rickshaw!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 December 2013

Ranjeet is a relaxed and friendly owner. He gave us the best room in the house for 2 nights at an amazing price because we walked here and came with no Rickshaw driver to pay commission too.

The hotel is on the other side of the lake and away from the chaos and noise of rickshaws of Lal Ghat. However it's still only a 2 minute walk over the bridge to Lal Ghat.

The room was big, had hot water (which is necessary as it gets pretty cold at night here), a tv with full sports channels, and amazing views of the lake and city palace.

Really couldn't recommend this place enough. 10/10

P.S have breakfast at the end of the rooftop in the amazing pagoda overhanging the lake. It's cheap and tasty with amazing views.

We arrived quite late in the pm to this hotel and as described in other reviews the hotel can be reached after passing a narrow aisle and a yard. There was a person on the door who showed us directly to our room. It was weird as he didn't ask our name, just took us to our room, however it was the right one, ie with view on the lake. Later in the day we spoke to the actual manager and he was very helpful, he even gave us a discout on the room rate as we were not having breakfast the following day (early flight).

I was expecting a top floor for this, instead we had a ground floor, anyway we were a few meters above water level and indeed there was another floor (of another hotel) below ours. The view on the palace and one of the ghats was great and unobstructed, that's the important thing.

The structure is hosted in an historic building and the rooms are decorated in line with the style (read hand-painted ceilings and sit-in bow widows). As typical in India there were a thousand switches in (and outside!) the room and very little light but we managed and I think we could have stayed comfortably for a couple of nights.

We didn't try their restaurant: the view is awesome but everyone reccomended the Ambaria at the end of the road and that is really magic.

We booked a taxi to the airport through the hotel, was slightly more expensive than the one you can book in one of the agencies on the same street (600 vs 400) but they explained they were going through a reliable agency, at 5 in the morning we didn't want to take risks so we spent this extra 2pounds (!) and took it. Indeed the car was there when we got out of the hotel and we were at the airport within half an hour (no traffic at that time).

There are a few ayurveda parlours in the street, we tried the more expensive one across the road (ie not the ones with billboards advertising cheap prices) as he convinced us that he would provide a real practitioner rather than a rubber, and were not disappointed.

Room Service provided at this hotel is good. The hotel staff is also very cooperative. But we didn't liked the food quality due to high service time and food is not very tasty. If you are planning to stay at this hotel, I would recommend to choose Delux Room.

Hotel Thamla Haveli has been a great choice for my girlfriend and I during our 6 day stay in Udaipur. The location and value of this Haveli is outstanding and room 108 has an amazingly large window view of the lake. The staff are all super cool and nice and the common areas are very relaxed. It is very comfortable to hang around on the terrace and read or catch up on work, as we had to do one day. Internet is reliable but sluggish and the food is quite good.

Room Tip: Room 108 Is very spacious and has a great view.

The staff is skilled and willing to help and advise you.
Rooms are clean and comfortable.
The perfect hotel to stay in Udaipur, I definitely recommend!

This hotel was booked by me by going through reviews of fellow travellers. Unfortunately I reached the hotel at around 8 am. No rooms were available as the check in time was 10 am ,however to our luck some guys checked out around the same time. As per my telecon with the owner Mr Sanjay Jain I was supposed to get a room immediately to freshen up. However due to lax attitude shown by the support staff who did not think it prudent to even clean the room the same was made available to us which put me off.Naturally I only made my son to view the TV and preferred waiting for my own room. Finally the room was made available to me which was very small, does not even have a cabinet to keep the luggage. The room is around 50-60 sq feet in size and is just ok for a couple and one child at the most. Overall the room was clean and even the toilets were so with a geyser with 24x7 hot water. No parking facility is available. The breakfast is just ok with no choice. The next day we went to Nathdwara visit however on our return the room was not cleaned inspite of the fact the same was communicated to the hotel manager Mr Ranjith. This again did not go well with me even so when the hotel has only 9 rooms to attend to. What I notice is the manager is more interested in providing value added services like arranging vehicles and local sightseeing for the obvious reasons. My advice would be to consult other travel consultants who would give economical travel solutions like M/s Chief Tour located near Hotel Uday Kothi(near Thamla Haveli). The hotel is located near the City Palace, Bagore Ki haveli,Rope Way etc(Walking distance).Ensure that you see the cultural program at Bagore ki Haveli at 7PM as it is worth it and if you want to go for boating head towards Laghat instead of the expensive City Palace Since we saw not many guest dining at the hotel we manged this on our own. Lotus Resturant near Jagdish Temple, The Food Club(Next to Thamla Haveli) are great options for dining so is Govinda Cafe near the City Palace which provides great sandwiches/coffee. I have discussed this concern with Mr Sanjay Jain and it high time he understands these concern as this is back to back 3 review which has rated this property as Average. Lastly if one is not concerned with Service aspect(though I do) go for this hotel as you cannot expect anything better at this price. For shopping needs head to HATHIPOLE area which is the local market for good rates( clothes, shoes etc)

Room Tip: For a family of 3 you may book a non lake facing room.
