For the price I have slept in more attractive rooms in India. Nothing wrong with my room or the hotel at all but offer and ambience do not surpass mediocricy which only justify 3 stars. (And by the way: the first room they put me in was pretty filthy - it looked like it hadn't seen a vacuum cleaner in the last month or so). Even in the better chambers there's some room for improvement concerning the cleanliness of the bath room and the WiFi coverage on the upper floors. However, I want to point out the friendliness of the staff and the nice chill-out feeling on the roof top where I spent two highly enjoyable evenings with a great view.
Also, to my surprise, the food that they serve up there was perfectly alright - I've eaten much worse at other guest houses.
Next time I'm in Udaipur I might try another hotel for sleeping but I'll be happy to drop by at Devi Vilas for a quiet evening of interesting conversations on the roof top.

The place was nice, well located near the Lake Pichola. It was a budget property, value for money. the staff was most helpful and guided us to all the great places and restaurants in Udaipur. it was within walking distance of the Jagdish Temple, City Palace, Bagore ki Haveli and a number of other places. The Deluxe room was adequate for a family of two adults and two children and we had adequate hot and cold water through the geyser. A nice place to stay on a budget. Had a wonderful german bakery Cafe Edelweiss just oppposite.

Booked 3 rooms but after reached there get only 2 rooms.
No parking facility, have to park cars 2-3 km away from hotel at public parking.
Booked from MakeMyTrip.com - in Hotel Voucher it was written that 'Break Fast' is included, but hotel owner said " There is no Break Fast included, it was mistake of MakeMyTrip."
Don't book this hotel. also it is very congested area.

Room Tip: Indian family don't book this hotel.

Lovely comfortable and clean rooms. Wonderful rooftop restaurant - nicely decorated with the perfect view for a sundowner.

Only thing that spoiled it was the customer service from staff. On arrival, a staff member was annoyed that we were late as he had been waiting since early morning for us. We arrived at 2pm and we never provided an arrival time. Any simple questions (such as WIFI password or loo roll) were always responded to with difficulty and never a straight answer. Staff are also very pushy about tours in your next port of call.

What can I say, what a lovely place:) The staff are supper friendly and will go out of there way to assist your every need. We stayed in room 105 for a week, which is spacious and has a great view of the Lake by day and night. We spent alot of time in our room as we got a bit of flu, the beds were super comfy and came with enough blankets and soft comfaters to keep you warm in the chilly nights. The rooftop resturant makes a mean Bhindi masala and from here you can enjoy wonderfull sunsets and the firework displays . Devi Vilas's location is perfect as its not on the main road and away from the hussel and bussel of the tuk tuks but it is still very central to everything like the lake, museum and other facilities. It is just a stones throw away from a little German and French bakery with the best baked goodies. For Rs500 a night it is money well spent. If you need a ticket booked via train, bus or flight they can also assist you with this.
When popping into Udaipur give this modern guest house a visit.
Thanks so much for everything you guys made our stay fantastic.

My family and I were passed off to these guys when the hotel around the corner mucked up our booking. When we arrived at 8 pm, we were the only guests in the hotel. Later, 2 other guys showed up. We passed up the R800 rooms on the third floor because the steep steps were too much for my mother-in-law. So we opted for the R1200 rooms on the first floor.

This place is more a hostel than a hotel. Cheap rates with spartan amenities. We were here in November and the rooms all have open windows that let in the complete chill of the night. So after our first night we decided to find a nicer place. When we informed Poonam, the owner/manager, in the morning that we were leaving, he insisted that we pay for a 2nd night.

Up until this point, he was the most friendly guy but had now turned hostile. He even went to our new hotel and started a fight with their staff for "poaching" us, which was certainly not the case. I understand that keeping rooms filled is the business of a hotel. But guests come and go. Some may like your place and some may not. They should not be terrorized for deciding to leave.

I stayed a few days in this guesthouse, and I loved the view from the restaurant, our room was spacious, comfortable and cheap, there was also free wi-fi and mr Pareek was really nice ... I recommend this place highly ...I think this place is still not very well known to tourists but it is deserves that people stop there.
