“Fairy tale location, a must one time visit”

We were prepared for the opulence and grandeur of the Palace. We were delighted on arrival to be upgraded to a suite. Taj Palace staff are trained exceptionally well to delight their guests. On arrival, royal welcome, and thereafter everything gets taken care of in style.

On departure, a senior manager came to bid farewell. I thanked him and responded very seriously that "the Palace Service Manager of Umaid Bhawan Palace, Jodhpur cast this 'curse' on us four years ago that we truly enjoy everything at the Taj Palaces that we despise in everyday life - pomp, pageantry and extravagance".

His prompt reply was, "May this 'curse' continue and bring you back soon"! - touché

After Falaknuma, Hyderabad and AMAN New Delhi, the spa here was an apology (space and facilities wise), but the staff did their best to make us feel good, with treatments and personal attention.

Room Tip: Every room faces the lakeside as the hotel is on a man-made island. Rooms on the City Palace side w...

The hotel and staff were excellent. You are met at the dock and taken across Lake Pichola to be greeted with an umbrella when you disembark and a rose pedal welcome! This hotel, amoung all we stayed in, allowed you to relax with the entire staff calling you by name! It offers a variety of services and all rooms are different. We were upgraded to a fabulous room because ours was smoking and we had requested nonsmoking. The staff goes above and beyond the call of duty to make sure their guests are happy. The staff happily answers questions and provides detailed instructions. The entire Taj Experience was excellent and something I will return to experience again!

Had the pleasure of staying here 2 nights. It is like being in another world. You are met at the dock and taken across Lake Pichola to be greeted with an umbrella when you disembark. Every room is different and ours was amazing!! Views across the lake to the City Palace. Fantastic rooftop restaurant, not to be missed. The whole experience was first class.

There is little I can add to all the superlatives expressed here in reference to the Taj Lake Palace, but this is a hotel stay that will be seared into your memory forever.

India is constantly moving, constantly changing. A stay at the Lake Palace allows you to slow down and savor an extraordinary experience in one of most unique properties in the world.

Easily one of the top hotels in India or anywhere else, the staff and property are beyond first class.

You've been looking at wonderful exotic painted palaces and then a boat brings you to your own wonderful painted exotic room. Ours was on the water line. The furnishings were wonderfully lavish, with beautiful hand painted arches and panels on every wall of our room. The courtyards were delightful to stroll around and to sit in for breakfast and the service was superb, but outstanding, intelligent and thoughtful.
Just one moan: why in a place of this calibre is the bathroom so small and the toiletries so rubbish? Go on, at this price you can afford some decent hair conditioner!

If you are going to Udaipur and have the cash (or can scrape some together for a special occasion) then stay here. Even if it's only one night you are made to feel so special, from the reception at the boat jetty to the trip across to the hotel, the shower of rose petals on arrival and the fantastic polite staff. It was an experience not to be missed, so much so that we stayed an extra night (B & B £450 ish / evening meal £125 with a bottle of wine).
The room was fabulous with views across Lake Pichola to the City Palace, it was spotless and as you would expect beautifully furnished.
The staff were so considerate and polite, nothing was too much trouble for them - even chilled cucumber for your eyes when you lay by the lovely swimming pool!
For us, a fantastic experience and one that we wouldn't have missed.

Room Tip: A room on the first floor looking across to the City Palace was wonderful

A stay at this hotel doesnt come cheap; but a stay at this hotel will probably also last you forever. While the property is picturesque and mired in history, what really makes a stay at this place memorable is the staff. They are perfect at looking after you and your needs without hovering around you encroaching on your space. The hotel is frequented most by couples lost in each other's love which further adds to the mystical aura of this place. The rooms are small but also serve in reminding you that you are staying in a palace, not in a constructed hotel.

Room Tip: All rooms face out on the lake of course. The sizes differ basis the price. The best room/suite look...
