This hotel absolutely delivers. I will never forget our time at the hotel. It was expensive, yes, but it was worth it. The rooms are gorgeous. The restaurants had beautiful settings, excellent food and service. The pool area is the prettiest I have ever seen.

You inevitably arrive at the Lake Palace with high expectations. How delightful to discover that if anything it is better than you expected. From the moment you step onto the boat to waft you across the lake you are made to feel special and very welcome. The buildings are like a fantasy of relaxed and elegant escapism. The staff are friendly and attentive, but never obsequious. Rooms are refined and comfortable. The pool and spa are well worth a visit. We ate in the dedicated Indian restaurant, where the food and service was outstanding, and also in the more cosmopolitan alternative, which served European cuisine of a very high standard. We found the cost of the restaurants surprisingly reasonable for a hotel of this standard (although it is possible to splurge on some wonderful and beautifully cared for and presented wines, if that is your inclination). If your budget for a visit to India will stretch to a couple of nights here it would be a great pity not to experience it for yourself.

We stayed at taj lake palace for 2 nights at the end of an 11 tour of Rajasthan. I cannot fully describe the beauty of the setting, it is stunning. The service is stellar without fault. Rooms are lovely and comfortable. The food was fabulous both in the "regular" restaurant and at the rooftop price fixe restaurant ( don't miss the rooftop the view is unparalleled in my dining experience) and from room service. Pool is gorgeous, salon services are top notch. My issue was the BIRDS . There must be 1000 of them come to roost in the garden and wake at 4 am. The racket is deafening. You cannot sleep through it ... And it lasts for 30 minutes to an hour. So plan on an early wake up call. I wish the hotel would warn guests, provide white noise, insulate their doors ? Something. Anything. A restful experience is not to be had unless you too are an early bird !

Room Tip: Ask for the view of the city palace. And eat on the rooftop !

So relaxing and magnificent service, after our first breakfast the staff knew our names and whether we might prefer tea to coffee at breakfast. All the meals we had here were excellent and there was so much choice. The hotel is well situated for wandering around Udaipur.

Everything about this hotel makes you feel as though you are a guest of the Maharana.
Its location is idyllic but i think if you stayed more than a few days it may feel a bit restricting. However, the boat service to and from the shore is perfect and the view of the city and distant Monsoon Palace encourage you to go ashore and visit.
The decor in and around the hotel is beautiful and the service excellent. Rooms are most comfortable although not large,
Breakfast is a superb and Dinner you have plenty of choice but a bit expensive.
Unfortunately, like all the major hotels in India we stayed at the internet is charged. It may be a small cost in the total picture but it is annoying.

A real 5star venue from arrival to departure . The place is simply unique , wonderful setting fantastic views and a really relaxing (as much as India can be:-)) place to visit - its world class - a must !!!
So arrival is 'on shore' and from the moment u arrive u just know its gonna be good. Your taxi boat arrives and whisks u towards the hotelmu have most likely seen a million times in photos. But to be honest it's better than any photo u have seen. The water is calm , there are few boats on the lake , the palace arrival is gracious and the rose petals cascading down do honestly make u feel good - how often have u been showered in rose petals ?
Inside there is a beautiful courtyard garden , multiple restaurants , an exquisite pool area and from every angle yet another photo opportunity.
I would suggest 2 nights of staying in at night and in the hotel is a must - use the place , it's fab , it's unique and hell you are paying for it. Food in both restaurants we tried was very good and the staff did genuinely go above and beyond.
The rooms are not the largest but they have everything and more and the service and the little touches make up for the size.
It's romantic but not exclusively.
They have about 4 shops in the hotel and althought I did not purchase anything they did have exceptionally nice staff and some of the most amazing quality wares and artwork - I have some regrets
Don't think just do it and enjoy !!!!!!!!

This my 2nd trip to udaipur, but my first stay here. I highly recommend it. The hotel appears to he floating on a lake. It is beautiful inside and out. You have an amazing view of the city. The service was top notch as expected. The rooms were good. The lunch we had at neel kamal restaurant was unbeatable. Pricey for India but good. I would stay here again in the future.
