Its quite a memorable experience, taj hospitality at its best, though I must say that all the male staff at the reception, restaurants & bar are very polite and natural. Rooms and swimming pool are bit small, maybe because the hotel is small and not much scope for expansion. Overall good and friendly hotel.

As we enter the gates after security in our car we get a glimpse if the magnificent palace. It gets exciting as we get greeted by staff in their royal uniform and get escorted to the boat to take us across. As we approach the palace there is a gentlemen waiting with a traditional umbrella to greet us on the red carpet. We feel like royalty as we are showered with rose petals from above the palace. As we enter the palace we are greeted by a lady in a sari who does a prayer for your well being. We then given drink and given a tour of the palace which is very beautiful and peaceful. Our lake side room was small but beautiful with all the modern amenities. The flute player and the surroundings make you feel like your in heaven. Breakfast is served in a delightful room surrounded by the lake. I had the Indian breakfast of puris and potatoes which are to die for. My husband had egg benedict which was good too. We used the pool which was great and the service here was excellent. In the evening there was Indian traditional music and dance which magnificent. There is also a free tour of the palace which gives you a great insight of the history. We had a guided tour of Udaipur which was amazing especially the palaces and the temples. The sunset by the lake lake is so beautiful don't miss it. The hotel is lite up and the hotel lights candles in the evening which makes it so romantic. The rooftop restaurant had a set menu only so we ate at the Indian restaurant which served authentic food. The service in the hotel is exceptional the best I've ever come across. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. Well done to the management. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. It truly has to be one of the best hotels in the world. Love to go back one day.

If you ever have the chance to stay there, you can call yourself very lucky. The location is incredible. Service, pampering, kindness, attention are state of the art. Everything is spick and span. A BIG thank you to all the staff members!

Room Tip: If you can, take a room facing the lake and the City Palace!

Service is the better than anything I have seen anywhere in the world. The place is lovely, charming, luxurious, fabulous. The Indian restaurant is simply outstanding.
The concierge was great and helpful. Maybe she could have been more informed about out of the way experiences, rather than just touristy places. But, I suppose, if she were to inform everyone about these out of the way things, they would not be out of the way anymore!
The tour guide, who gives a historical tour of hotel, was not up to par.
But overall, a fantastic experience. Recommend very, very highly.

Although it was a business travel, this place is as magical as one can get. The history, the architecture, the spellbinding service. The chefs, butlers make sure they know your likes and dislikes in a matter of hours and make sure your comforts are met while on your stay. the astronomical prices may keep the regular away, but it is a magical retreat worth every dime.

its been 3 yrs , but i can still feel every moment of taj lake palace as it was just yesterday.
the smell , the luxury ,the ambience , every single bit has been taken care off . it was my honey moon and i was back from europe tour , they received us from the airport in their jaguar , what treatment it was , then started the journey to palace .. the entry gate simply amazing , we have to take their boat to the palace , a place that was surrounded all sides by water.
u reach hotel and then u know ur each penny returns to u in the best possible experience of lifetime . i can not describe the flute man in the morning , their awsome breakfast , their behaviour , in one word but if u want to be a king u shud once try to be there .
thanks for the experience, ill be back soon

There is something magic about this place, the light, the view, the palace and the fact that it is built on an island in the middle of lake!!At night they light up lots of candles around the pounds, and you can dine by them it is just beautifull. Bedrooms are well decorated but you need to choose at least from the first category of rooms with the view on the lake. Beddings are super comfortable. The indian restaurant is nice and for the western one it is just the best french food I've had in India. I really like the fact that they truly respect the history of the place and make the tourists discover it with different tours. Maybe just one downside, it is a little bit too crowded as you just would love to keep the place all for yourself. The sense of hospitality is like nothing else in the worls....I think the parisian palace should learn from it.
