Hotel Taj Lake Palace is exquisite white marble palace that seems to float majestically on the still waters of Lake Pichola. It is set amidst awe inspiring fairytale gardens offering sumptuous comfort and princely inspired decor, making it most romantic hotel in world. Hotel Lake Palace is place which is perfect for a romantic gataway, or just a respite from the hustle and bustle of city life.We had such a magical stay here, the place is in a perfect location with amazing views and the rooms are wonderful. The staff are attentive and happy and the food was superb in all the restaurants. It almost takes you back in time, to experience how the Maharja's lived.City Palace was incredible and in good shape,The rooms also add to this illusion.

Just looking at a photograph of this 18th-century island palace is enough to make you want to start planning a trip to India. On my recent stays here, it's certainly lived up to its promise, from the experience of being ferried to the "lobby" by boat to exploring the various courtyards, with their flowerbeds and fountains, to ascending the roof, getting lost down a passage, or being treated like royalty in the beautiful bar. Both standard and deluxe rooms feature wood paneling and murals, lovely marble bathrooms, well-crafted furniture, opulent fabrics, and blissful Egyptian cotton linens; recent renovations have also improved many of the public spaces. Best of all, everywhere you look -- be it from the mango-shaded pool, your room, or the restaurant -- you have picture-perfect views: the statuesque City Palace walls and crenelated rooftops to the east, the whitewashed havelis and temples of the Old City lining the shores of the lake to the north, the Aravalli Hills to the west, or Jag Mandir to the south. My favorite spot is on a poolside lounger; here, you face the City Palace directly and are brought selections of refreshing drinks and tasty nibbles, and there are glossy magazines to peruse. The best rooms (besides the fabulous suites) are the deluxe rooms facing east -- the City Palace is lit up at night, giving you a 24-hour view. The huge and opulent suites (of which no. 116 and 117 housed the queen and the king, respectively) were thankfully left more or less as inherited from the royal family and have a timeless grandeur that the City Palace hotels could only wish for: stained-glass windows, marble floors, crystal chandeliers, antique Rajasthani furniture, and old-fashioned pieces that wouldn't be out of place at Balmoral (Queen Elizabeth's favorite residence) -- making them the epitome of 20th-century royal splendor. Note that the luxury rooms with City Palace views tend to be smaller than those facing the hills, which are like miniature suites (albeit with cramped bathrooms), and be very careful to insist on a room with a view over the lake -- a few deluxe units overlook the lily pond in the internal courtyard

Facilities:
2 restaurants; bar; pool; minigym; spa; 2 outdoor Jacuzzis; travel desk; car hire; shops; 24-hr. room service; babysitting; doctor-on-call; currency exchange; boat trips; 24-hr. water taxi; reading room; astrologer
