The views, the staff, the views, the rooms, the views.....What an amazing hotel. The hotel is tucked away in the old city in Udaipur, but overlooks the lake. The lake views can be seen from most rooms and everywhere in their two story restaurant, which includes a rooftop- Come here for some good (not suerb) food, a drink and the sunset! This hotel is absolutely the place to be in Udaipur!

Room Tip: Ask for a lake view- totally worth it!

Our stay at the Jagat Niwas palace was nothing but fantastic. Right from the time we reached there to check out, the staff were friendly and helpful all the way. We booked a Raj suite as it was one of the rooms with a lake view. AND, what a view it is....The room is beautifully decorated with a huge bed, traditional carvings on the roof (read painted) and a sit-out with a view to the entire Lake Pichola.

The roof top restaurant is a must visit during morning and again for dinner. I would definitely recommend this hotel to people looking for solace during their vacation.

Special thanks to the owners for restoring this property and maintaining it as well.

Room Tip: Pick the rooms with views, heritage, Raj or Pichola suites....Without a view, the room would seem like just any other room

This fairy tale hotel overlooking the Lake Palace Hotel on Pichola Lake in Udaipur, is my favourite hotel. The rooms are pretty with hand block printed curtains and bed covers. Some overlooking the lake with large alcove beds to relax on. The food - the best. I have been visiting since 1990 with my husband and now take groups of friends to enjoy the experience.

Room Tip: If you want cool rooms use the ground floor rooms, if you want views, lakeside rooms are best.

This former haveli was the perfect place to stay in Udaipur. The city is very walkable and Jagat Niwas is centrally located on Lake Pichola (and also conveniently next to an internet cafe). The hotel has spectacular views of the palaces from its third-floor and rooftop restaurant, amazing food, and centuries-old charm. The rooms are basic but, but at less than $50/night, the romantic surroundings make this a great value. Highly recommended.

We very much enjoyed our two nights here, eating on the rooftop restaurant it was so romantic! The rooms were attractively decorated and furnished, the service was good and everything was very clean. We loved Udaipur as a city and so enjoyed going round it from this central location (take a tuktuk). Breakfast looking out onto the lake is a dream. Worth every penny.

Room Tip: I am sure they have rooms with lake view. Would have been the tip of the iceberg for us..
