We have two standard rooms in this hotel. The rooms are clean and comfortable. But without any view. But the favorite part of this hotel is the restaurant. It has really good food, like fish and BBQ chicken. All very delicious, and also nice view of the lake.

The location is right on lake pichola and its the most scenic place. We had a lovely room# 110 facing the Taj Lake Palace. Rooms are spacious and the staff very courtieous especially the waiters.
The service is personalised. this hotel is located in the old city of Udaipur so has a very old world charm. the good thing about jagat niwas is that all heritage sites are located within walking distance.
The rooms are artistically designed and the property has been well restored.

there is one thing one has to be careful about while visiting the city palace in udaipur. the stores in the city palace do tend to con tourists. i visited the Indian handicrafts emporium and was conned into buying stuff.... when I went to return it the next day, the shopkeeper refused to pay me back the money.
Not a very happy situation.

we stayed only a night in udaipur. we picked jagat niwas based on the reviews on tripadvisor. first of all, udaipur roads are very very small and are winding. driving a car into udaipur becomes a nightmare. we had a very tough time finding this hotel. we were traveling around rajasthan with our map my india navigator which picked up every small road and lanes but even it was not able to direct us to jagat niwas. we went round and round the same road and finally we asked the hotel to send someone to a nearby chowk to guide us. the bell boy arrived and took us through a reaalllllyyyy small lane and we almost burnt our cluth getting through it.

but once we reached, we were happy with the location of the hotel. its right on the lake. its an old haveli turned into a hotel. they have both lake facing and non-lake facing rooms. we were on a budget trip and the lake facing room was a bit steep for us even during the off season so we took the non-lake facing one.

the rooms are very very clean and well maintained. if you cna afford, please go for the lake facing as it gives an amazing view. the restaurant faces the lake and offers indian and continental food.

there are a couple more hotels next to this one right on the lake. since we didnt have too much time, we didnt really compare. you can check them too as they all have the same fantastic location and view
