Reviewed 27 April 2013

It was really a Very good experience to stay at Hiltop during my current visit at Udaipur . Even During this summer period this was like a Hill Station . Good view of entire Udaipur at a glance. Lake side rooms are to be prefered , although slightly costly.

Room Tip: Try to get lake side rooms. The Hotel is far from city, but in a peaceful location & eye soothin...

The hotel location is very good....nice quiet ambience...very close to fateh sagar...but away from hustle-bustle of the city crowd.
Do take lake facing room...you would not even feel the need to go and visit lakes. The views are great during the mornings...and amazing in the evenings. Right from the hotel room, you can see the Sujjangarh Palace...at night, with lights ON, it looks like a space ship flying in the sky!
The hotel staff is very courteous...food is decent.
The rooms are basic...but neat & tidy...donot expect luxurious rooms....but the view they offer, makes it worth staying there.
Whenever i would visit next to Udaipur, would surely stay there only!

The best thing about the hotel (apart from the architecture) is the stunning hilltop [obviously] location, the beautiful view over Udaipur and the lake, with the peaceful garden setting. It's very relaxing to sit and/or dine in the garden each evening as you rest from a hectic day. Rooms are basic and the restaurant fare for breakfast is okay. As in most hotels in India, the electricty supply is intermittent and don't expect many of the plugs/sockets in your room to be working.

I read trip advisor before the trip and so I had a low expectation. Yes, the pool is very dirty and hasn't had any chemical tteatment in a long time, but what a view. The view of one of the big lakes was fantastic and just the general scenary from our balcony made it a worthwhile stop. Yes again, the fabric of the buidling is a bit dated and in need of some minor repars and paint touch-up here and there, but it was clean and the lift worked. The only issue we had was the rock hard beds that reminded me of our trip to China two years ago, bit we selpt OK after some gin and tonic.

The service was very good and I really enjoyed the food at and breakfast. Hotel was quite quiet and so it was easy to get my fried eggs with warm toast and tea. The internet was free and we had nice hot water in the evening.

We were a bit apprehensive about staying here as the last hotel on our group tour of Rajasthan because of the previous negative TA reviews but our experience and that of the rest of the group was very good. It is in a very nice location overlooking one of Udaipur’s lakes and the green hills beyond. The view was very nice from the large terrace outside the room. The room was large, the double bed was very comfortable and we had a couple of very good nights’ sleeps. The fridge functioned really well and was very useful. We could not be bothered going out on our first night and many of our group had dinner in the hotel. The curries that we had were very good – amongst the best we had in India, and they were reasonably priced. There was a nice rooftop bar with reasonably priced beer to sit and watch the sun go down and the lovely view. The Indian breakfast the first morning was especially good. Overall, the staff were very friendly and efficient. There were one or two downsides – the free wireless internet could only be effectively received in the lobby. There was a bit of a smell from the drains in the bathroom.

As the name suggests, hotel is situated on hilltop overlooking Fatehsagar lake. While the view is fantastic, and hotel is wonderfully decorated with marble inlays, service is however sluggish. During our 4D/3N stay we had to shift room once due to sudden unavailability of water in bathroom for which the staff didnt even care to apologise. Also, we had to have the same the breakfast every other day. The furniture in room was timeworn and needs immediate replacement. Mattresses too werent very confortable.

Room Tip: Lake view rooms to be preferred.
