The location of the hotel and the experience of reaching the same in the middle of Asia's largest man made lake is absolutely fabulous. The rooms have been refurbished to provide with luxury. Food, staff service and courteousness made my stay extremely pleasurable.

The resort is located right in the centre of a 88 sq. km. lake, probably Asia's biggest. It has a variety of rooms including villas with semi-private swimming pools too. Its an awesome place to break away from the city, be it Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, or whatever you can name in the neighbouring areas.
Just one thing that I felt was a negative, the food was average. Maybe because I went during off-season. But, the service was excellent. People and the owners themselves are very courteous and always avaialable for any knod of help.

Room Tip: I love the view from the villas.

Dear Mr Sethia,

Greetings. Thank you for the comments. I will look into the issue about the food. Normally, we are known for our good food. We had inducted some new chefs during the time of your visit and now are back on track.

I was referred to this hotel by one of my close friends. I planned to out with my parents and my family so i was initially skeptical about this hotel. I travelled by Road from Ahmedabad by self drive. The journey was very pleasant. As we were nearing the place i was just wondering whether what we saw and heard about the place is true as there was no signs of any lake on the entire road to the location.

But then after a very short climb on the mountain towards the parking bay for the car i saw the first sight of a magnificent and simple awesome natural beauty which i had never seen something in my life.

Then we took the ferry toward the hotel and as far as i could see i saw water and water and mountains. The sight is so pleasing and also was surprising that Rajasthan had a very tiny unknown place with such beauty.

The hotel from the outside looked as old fashioned. The check in was fast and the staff was very co operative. The rooms looked recently refurbished. The interior was very impressive and the room size was almost 3 times of the hotels in which i have normally stayed. It looks like all the rooms are lake facing and the view from my room was very eye candy and soothing.

The food was very hygienic and looked fresh. The taste was something which can be improved for some varieties. But none the less i am ready to compromise on the food for the location and the joy it gave me.

There was a big pool where i enjoyed with my kids and the view one gets from there is also really great. There was free boating available and i did enjoy the sunset in the boat.

Early in the morning the view from the top of the hotel is magical.

The package that is being offered for the hotel is really tempting and i hope this property remains in my budget for many years to come as i will surely be tilted for a vacation in this property more often.

Room Tip: Take the corner rooms especially on the west side. Also take the room on the 6th floor the view is b...

Went to Jaisamand Resort this October from 4th to 6th. Before booking the tickets, had done quite a bit of research on the reviews of other travellers, some positive and some negative. however the natural beauty of the place, which won hands down made me go ahead and take the plunge.... truly the resort is located in a breath-taking location, with mountains on all the sides of this island, and the resort literraly in the middle of the lake... provides you complete peace and quite to let u unwind and relax ... the delux rooms are recently renovated and were quite comfortable with the waters of the lake visible right from the bed, leave alone the balcony!! they also have raw boating, camel riding which is quite good....food, which comprised of rajasthani, gujarati, chinese, continental and punjabi was quite good, except for the chinese which was completely bland and tasteless ( i thought the rajasthani touch to this cuisine will only make it spicier and tastier).. daal baati, gatte ki sabzi, churma laddo were amazing though!
however the property can be much much better maintained...the pool, jacuzzi, the steam, sauna were absolutely not maintained, and it was impossible to use any of them (maybe due to the fact that they were all complimentary and part of the package)...with due appreciation for the fact that the resort is in the middle of the lake located remotely, we still deserve our money's worth! and the tourist season has almost started....
But overall, we loved the experience and enjoyed our trip....staff too was hospitable and accomodating....

Room Tip: the delux rooms are the most recently renewed.... the villas are also superb with a private pool bet...

My wife's boss suggested a "must stay" at Jaisamand Island Resort. I am a complete reseaarch traveller and checked a lot of reviews about the resort, some negative and some very postive. I called the reservation manager and asked him about the reviews. I was told that the resort was fully renovated in August 2011. I took Mr. Ashok's word for it and made my reservation from 5th to 8th September 2011.

We reached the boat stand (the dam made by the King of Udaipur) at about 10 AM. The boat ride to the resort is once in a life timeexperience. Its hard to belive that Rajasthan has the second biggest man made lake in the World. The boat ride is 4 kms and took us about 20 mins.

Our check in was prompt and we were taken to the deluxe room (the base caterogry). The room was a total delight. I found out later that the furniture had been imported from Bali and Thailand. The rooms are quite spacious. The only thing missing was a bathtub in the bathrooms, but the whole feel of the room more than compensated for the missing bathtub.

The food at the resort is typically Rajasthani and Indian. I am a vegeterian, so missed out on the fish from lake. The service is simply superb. They made some changes in the next day buffet, as per our preference.

I have made a reservation again for 30th and 31st December with a group of friends at the Jaisamand Island Resort and hope we enjoy as much as we did on our stay in September.

A must visit for couples and families.

Room Tip: Ask for the Lake Facing Rooms. The pool villa is great, if you can afford it.

If you enjoy being in the lap of the nature, this is the place you must visit, especially just after monsoon is over.

Here're my take home points:
- Calm and rejuvenating place to spend your holidays.
- Majority of rooms are recently renovated and provide a fresh experience.
- Swimming pool is well-maintained.
- Good food, great hospitality.
- Easy going staff, flexible and accommodating – they’ll prepare a less spicy food item for your kid on request.
- Refreshing mornings with singing birds and calm lake in the lap of nature.
- It is difficult to maintain such a property in the middle of one of the deepest man-made lakes of the country, still they have managed to do it reasonably well.
- Continuous electricity supply was a problem but they did a great job in keeping the alternate electricity generation arrangements ready so it took less than a minute to assure lights and air conditions are running.
- Ample opportunities to capture photos of birds and reptiles, landscapes, sunrise and sunsets and so on.
- Also the property's calmness provides an opportunity to pause, think and re-engineer your relationship with your inner being and becoming a better you!

In a nutshell, it’s an experience worth having if you have any relationship with calm and refreshing nature.
