Having read the previous reviews we were led to believe that this hotel was in the good to great range.
Well the staff must have changed and the electricity and water must have been working properly before we arrived. We are easy to please Australians and things have to be bad for us to give a negative review but here goes.
We thought the service was very ordinary. The front desk was fine but the waiters???? in the restauarant were really terrible. They seemed to think that they were 5 star but really they had no idea. How many times does one have to ask for COLD milk and still recive HOT milk on their cereal and then have it almost thrown at them and we were being very pleasant and understanding of the communication difficulties.
The rooms were quite nice except for the water being off at 5pm on two days for 3 hours without any notice whatsoever...very nice when you are covered in sweat and dust.
The location is OK but we saw many other comparable hotels closer to the markets etc which would have been more suitable. There is not much shopping or food outlets near the hotel, they are over the bridge over the lake and would seem to be a much better option than the Udai Kothi. In fact we thought the hotel was over priced for the standard of the rooms and service after having stayed in the Samode Haveli in Jaipur...stay there if you can ....not much more expensive and 100% better than Udai Kothi.( Real luxury and impeccable service)
On a final note, even thougfh you really need to eat in the hotel to be safe from the dreaded belly aches, the food was very ordinary.
On the flip side, rooftop pool area is awesome at night but the pool itself is a bit iffy and you have to put up with construction and renovation still going on I think for the last 2 years...oh well this is India!!!!
