“Beauty of Rural India”
Reviewed 6 November 2013

Jaisamand Lake (also known as Dhebar Lake) is located approx. 55 kms from Udaipur. The road to Jaisamand is good & you would definitely enjoy the serene environment with the lush green trees on both sides of the road. This lake is an artificial sweet water lake (approx. 87 square kilometers) & was built by Maharana Jai Singh around 1685. The source of water is from the Gomati River. There is no entry ticket. You can drive your vehicle next to the lake. There is a premium resort (Jaisamand Island Resort) across the lake.

In case you are travelling back to Ahmedabad, please take the route via Chavand & Parsad onto the National highway. Chavand was the last capital of Maharana Pratap & died here. A memorial is there (in a dilapidated condition & rarely visited)

“Huge manmade Lake”
Reviewed 10 October 2013 via mobile

Although Lake has not been developed as tourist spot, yet must be visited. It is huge, manmade, has a lot of islands, has beautiful resort, spread over kilometres. Just 60 km.away from Udaipur and located on Bhilwara Road in Rajasthan. Biodiversity forest is in the way. Food available at resort is good.

“A change of scenery”
Reviewed 9 October 2013

The great thing about this lake is the wide open expanse of water, and sky, and the space to move and breath freely after being used to bustling crowded Indian towns. The massive ancient marble barrage is impressive, and the whole area is much cleaner than many parts of India. The town a couple of km downhill is more typical, but friendly. Order some fried fish in one of the roadside cafés and take a picnic up to the reservoir.
