just a stones throw from jagdish temple is the olde city palace, well definitely worth a visit, do take a guide or you would miss a lot of things , do use your brains and do not accept his guidance to the shopping places ( he may get a cut there) the newly opened galleries are not much publicized but very lovely- the splendor is to be seen , to be believed, despite the fact that they have added railings to prevent people from falling down , the commercialization for sound and light has left a bitter taste - this visit after many long years made me reminisce on how lovely the palace looked earlier, please visit it soon .

This is a palace worth visiting. It being the 2nd largest palace in India and Asia. It also houses the present kings residence and is a must visit.

Take out atleast 2-3 hrs minimum for this visit

This place is a chip of history rolled in tight. All the captivating tales of Maharana Pratap and other Maharanas of Udaipur is a lovely bit off the History pages. Lots of stories we never knew. Be sure to take a guide in. We took Raghuveer Ji - Government authorized guide, 200 rs. But Bang for Buck and more ! this guy was one of the most humorous chaps I've come across as well.
We loved teh palace tour.

Can not imagine that 6 centuries back, with no machinery available, such a beautiful palace was built. The cross current of air flow was amazing, thanks to the meticulous plans. The section which is supposed to be the servant-maids' place is amazing as it just looks like mirror inspire of the fact so many doors are really to be crossed. Amazing experience...Trees on 4th floor, sheesh mahal, dining place with hand operated lift....splendid!
