“Ok for a zoo”
Reviewed 30 March 2014 via mobile

Recently visited udaipur zoo. People told me that u may go there to see few animals. Actually the zoo is less but more of a park or walking place. One may not enter the zoo if u just want to see few animals. You board the railway train for kids and you will be able to see all the animals and in fact the complete park.

Thank Ravi R

“Skip if you are in Udaipur for less than 3 days”
Reviewed 17 February 2014

Zoos are very difficult to upkeep and unless the city gets a generous funding, it is difficult to make ends meet. So if you're done with City Palace and seem to have a lot of time in your hands and a small kid - you might go here. The zoo is a stone's throw from City Palace and is inside what they call a "Rose Garden". It is a park (for walking) hosting a zoo in one end (seems like the zoo was put in as an after thought). As soon as you walk into the park, you get a huge tree on your left full of bats .. they look like black hanging fruits .. but look carefully and you will see lots of bats. The paths are clearly marked and look for the Toy Train sign to get upto the zoo. In fact, we were looking to ride the Toy train, when we got to know there's a zoo as well. The toy train takes you through most of the zoo except for the big animal attractions - lions and tigers. The zoo has an impressive collection of lovely birds in big cages. They have a couple of Himalayan bears as well. Take the toy train which is further up the path from the zoo and you can put a tick mark on this place. Not a must visit - skip unless you have little kids!

“Pathetic condition”
Reviewed 18 December 2013

I happen to visit the Udaipur zoo, since we had a small child with us. The first look itself was very disappointing, the poor animals are in pathetic condition. The place was very dirty, I guess the management has never heard of something called Cleanliness. What a waste of time.......

If u love to watch Animals and you have sufficient time while visiting Udaipur then u should definately go to this place. This not a very big zoo but have good collection of animals. It have animals like leopard, Bear, Hynae, crocodile and deers etc. It also have good collection of birds. There is toy train and many swings for children. The park is also well maintained. Children will definately enjoy here and love this place very much. This place gives a natural feeling with good collection of flowers in the garden also. The collection of tortoise is also very good, we observed different sizes of tortoise very closely here. overall a place worth to visit.

“Good place to spend time with family”
Reviewed 25 June 2013

Went to Udaipur Zoo in June 2013. A zoo is not that great. But it has all that flavours like toy train, sellers selling light snacks etc. Birds collection is extra ordinary which consists Australian Pelican & few ducks. Even Himalayan Beer is quite gigantic. If you are staying in Udaipur city for 2+ days then you should consider visiting the zoo. But definitely not a must visit place.

One needs to walk a lot within the zoo premises.
