“Lovely place to stay”
Reviewed 16 January 2014

The hotel has recently been refurbished and is lovely. The staff went above and beyond expectations to help us with anything we needed. The rooftop terrace has excellent views of the city and does very tasty food.

Took ages to find the Haveli because Googlemaps have its position in the wrong place! Once we did find it we were very happy with it. Great food in the restaurant. The best massage I have ever had. Nice staff and lovely room. However, there are a number of things that could be rectified: there is NO hanging space or drawers in the bedroom Bizarre. Hot water is on twice daily. Bathroom towels not changed, even though they were wet. Great spot to eat on the roof with wood braziers set at right angles to the tables. Only problem was that it was very cold and windy and the smoke blew into our eyes! The hotel is situated in a very narrow lane with two way traffic that can be madness to negotiate. Difficult to park nearby, so don't take too much baggage!

Room Tip: Maybe see if any of the rooms have wardrobes or hanging space or a chest of drawers.

We spent 2 wonderful days at Madri Haveli. This is an authentic place, no rip-off, very very nice staff, cosy and well designed rooms and a fantastic rooftop Terrace. We would definitly recommended to stay there.

Room Tip: the suites are great but unfortunatly were booked. we stayed at standard room which was nice as well...

Simply superb. Extraordinary service. I reached hotel at 10.30 at night (with my wife), without advance booking. Eventhough the hotel was full, they managed to give a room n gave a big relief. They helped to get food also. Let it be reception, restaurant, room service, could make out how good their hospitality is. So friendly and helpful. Taste was good. Ambience- feel of real haveli. Location, even though it is conjested, I liked it. Hats off & three cheers.

I've been here with my family for new year's eve and it was amazing! The place is really beautifull, it remembers to an old and original haveli. The facilities in the rooms are basics but is really clean and something different from usual in India. I saw a lot of places in India and something like this it's really difficult to found. The price was honest compared to the place and the owner was really nice. He also gave us a driver to continue our trip in Rajasthan and he stayed with him for 3 days, beutiful person and good service.
The hotel is good placed, is not in the lake but is in the old city, walking distance to everything. It also has a beautiful terrace where you can see the lake. The restaurant it's not bad.
I'll come back here if i go againg to udaipur and I suggest this place to everyone!!

Our trip to Udaipur was planned over the New Year's eve and that's why we probably paid more than the rack rate for the standard room. However, it was worth the extra buck, as the hotel is situated a stone's throw from most landmarks. The only downside about the location is that since it is surrounded by local houses that are occupied, so your room window ends up facing someone's home. Though the thick curtains offer some privacy. The standard room is relatively smaller than most hotel rooms, and offers little or no storage space to hang or keep your clothes. The hotel should look in to this.
The view from the terrace restaurant is great. But, you can't enjoy these over an evening drink as they do not serve alcohol.
The internet wifi signal doesn't penetrate through the room, so sit in the lobby or restaurant for best results.

We stayed for 3 nights 26th Dec - 29th Dec 2014 for the first night in a standard room and the next 2 nights in the suite. We were pretty much in the hotel all 3 days since my husband had a bad bout of viral. I would say the place is very clean and comfortable but only if you are going there at night simply to crash. We were travelling with a 10m old, and i would say that it's much less than ideal if travelling with a baby. First - no running hot water in winter - 3 hours in the morning and 3 hours in the evening only. At all other times you need to call the reception - which you will realize that in winters is not ideal at all.

Secondly - no hot water kettle even in the suite..which again, very inconvenient with a baby when you need hot water.
These are things i assumed all good hotels have nowadays - so unfortunately hadn't checked.

Also - no room service - which after my requests was made available since my husband had a bad bout of viral and we couldn't step out at all. Even then, the staff at first did not agree until i asked the manager to step in. I must say, the manager Mr. Shankar Singh was very helpful but each time i needed something, at first i would need to find him and request him to intervene with his staff on my behalf. Mr. Singh himself - very helpful, even took my husband to a doctor.

The suite was very tastefully done/Indian ethnic in feel - but since we were stuck in the room all the time, realized that it was very poorly lit to do anything like read a book. Also, it was very very noisy all day and even at night - traffic outside and some construction going on upstairs.

So all in all - probably good if you don't have to spend any time there - and just need a good clean, comfortable bed at night to sleep in; not if you end up staying there during the day and have special requests. Certainly not recommended with an infant.
