For a person who loves ancient structures I was quite excited about it. It's a beautiful property with authenticity of true haveli being carried in the new construction. The inner facade though lacking in finesse is charming in its 'rawness'. The terrace is its star feature with beautiful 360 degree views. However, I'm not happy with the room. First of all there is just one suit and therefore is always booked. All other rooms fall way short when compared to a suit. The room we got was on 4th floor (again, there's no lift, but that was okay for us, I don't mind a bit of exercise). But what I do mind is that it was right under the noisy kitchen which kept our room constantly smelling of food! The rooms have traditional design but poorly lit and not exactly comfortable. Bathroom is dark and narrow with no place to keep toiletries and stuff, no place to hang towels and just too small to be called comfortable. These little 'discomforts' can be really annoying when you are on a long trip! There is no safe for your valuables which is a big miss for a 'boutique' hotel. The car parking is further away from the hotel and not covered. We chose this for its proximity to city palace & few other landmarks (also for its history) and thats a big plus here. We had dinner on both nights of stay on terrace - not for food as such, but for the views! Food, although good could be improved as well as service & their hotel website. I feel like I'm sounding all negative but that's the plain truth of my experience. It badly needs a feminine touch. Since its new, with all this feedback they can definitely make it a success. In short, it has lots in the name of charm but less in the name of comfort! You can read & see more (as if this wasn't enough!) pictures of our experience at pastlifeseamstress.com

Room Tip: Stay in the suit. Avoid one on 4th floor at all costs!

Really beautiful old haveli that has been stunningly renovated and decorated. Rooms are a little dark with limited natural light entering but furniture and bathrooms have been done to such a high finish in such good taste. Rooftop terrace restaurant. Friendly, helpful staff.

I travelled with my family to India for the first time in 14 years and went travelling to Rajasthan. Decided to stay here because it was something different, and boy it was!! The manager is really awesome, organized cabs and autos as required, the staff was really welcoming, the food on the terrace was pretty awesome too. The place is meant for the experience and is competitively priced, if you prefer a modern five star hotel then this is probably not the place for you. Would recommend this experience for anyone wanting to try something different, fun and local.

We were well welcomed and we could have a rest in lobby while we were waiting for our room early in the morning. The staff was really nice.
But the general atmosphere could be improved. There is nearly no decoration and the rooms are monastic but quiet. In the room, a lot of facilities are missing such as a rack for the towels in the bathroom, a welcome tray, a luggage stand or least a small chess of drawers.
However the rooftop restaurant offers a beautiful view of the city and we enjoyed the best butter chicken we've ever had.

Right in the midst of small alleys full of traditional craftsmen and merchants is the Madri Haveli, an old Royal Palace now converted to serve everyday tourists. Everything inside will take one back to the past centuries. The rooms are modernised, well appointed and very comfortable, the highlight being the restaurant located on the 4th level with a magnificent view of the entire city and the lake. The service is excellent and the staff very friendly and very helpful. A must place for visitors to Udaipur

Room Tip: Pay a little more and ask for a deluxe room

By far best stay during our visit of Rajasthan. Professional service and exquisitely decorated rooms of a high standard. Great location for major tourist hotspots. Taxi to Ranakphur was vert well arranged and fairly priced. Highly recommended.

We had an excellent 2 day stay at this place in the wonderfull small suite. The room is maybe a bit dark but so beautifully inside. Thr biger suite looks the same but much brighter. The restaurant was good, for breakfast and for dinner. The rooftop view is one of the best we ever had in similar places. Hotel staff and manager are very friendly and helpfull
