Had the pleasure of visiting the recently opened Jaisingh Garh Hotel in Udaipur. It's a small 11 room boutique heritage resort but it's nothing short of experiencing the heritage experience.
All the rooms are neat and clean, with lcd television's and tea coffee maker i.e. most of the amenities that good hotels provide you. But that's not the best part of it.
All the rooms are very very spacious. When I mean I truly mean spacious. Each has a wonderful sitting arrangement near the window. If you are lucky you could get a room with a view to the nearby forts and lakes.
The room interiors and names are thematic and wonderfully done. Like Neelambari (Blue Clouds) you can find interiors in blue as well paintings on the clouds on ceilings. Same way are Thikri, Airavat, Mewar Gharana, Ras Leela, Zardozi etc. Each has interiors and colour in line with the name of the room.
The roof top restaurant Kabab Mistri is amazing. Wonderful view of the city at night from the restaurant. Food is also of top quality. The location of the hotel is also close to market as well as City Palace and Pichola Lake. Getting a transport for sight seeing shouldn't be much of a hassle.
All in all those wanting to experience living in a fort/mahal this is the place to be. Good value for money. Highly recommended.More
