The Rajdarshan is a decent option to stay in the city of lakes, Udaipur. Rooms are reasonably clean and face the lake, which however has turned quite filthy. Lobby has an ethnic (Rajasthani) feel to it and the staff is extremely courteous. Food is average at best.
All in all it is good value for money.

The ride through the market made me wonder what kind of a hotel it will be and how noisy it will be. But, Voila! A pleasant surprise in the form of a cosy hotel tucked in between lots of greenery. The rooms have comfortable beds and clean and warm linen. The bathrooms are spotlessly clean and well maintained. The service is efficient and unobtrusive.

The piece-de-resistance is the over-looking lake. I just loved having my morning chai gazing at the city as the son came up.

Cosy , comfortable and clean rooms. An average business hotel where the service needs some improvement. The food is nothing to write home about. The view of the city is great from the top floors. A good place to retire for the night after dinner at one of the lakeside restaurants

Room Tip: Top floors preferred

Five of us arrived by overnight train from Delhi and were delighted to find a friendly driver with a van big enough to haul us -- and our luggage -- the 4 or so km to the hotel. Well located near the heart of things in town, but enough on the fringe to provide some welcome relief from the, uh, energetic traffic below. See if you can get a room with view of the lake and the bridge beyond. Special thanks to the manager, Mr. Heeralal Sharma, who helped us with last minute bookings in Mumbai and other complications. I'd definitely stay at the Rajdarshan again.

And while you're in Udaipur, don't miss dinner at Ambrai on the waterfront.

Hotel Rajdarshan was the perfect location for our Seminar for writers and academics, a group of 16. Very courteous staff, attractive seminar room, lovely tea breaks in the sunny garden, and tasty multi-cuisine buffet lunches. The spacious lobby makes it easy to hold conversation in small groups. At the end of the day, you retire to a room with view of the Swaroop Sagar lake, and a smiling moon reflected on its placid waters. The hotel management meets every request with efficiency : LCD, laptop, fresh flowers, taxi, a call for Rajasthani food items--nothing is too 'difficult' for them. This is old world hospitality with new world promptness. If you are planning a Seminar, a phone call sets it all up. If you are planning a holiday, do everything except the speeches!

You cannot iagine that there s a beautiful 3 star hotel when you enter the narrow lane of market place in Udaipur. But as we entered the hotel, we realised it is made in a castle. It was a very different experience to see a modern hotel in an old castle.
The rooms were everything beyond expectations.Nicely made beds ,sofas,a table, dressing table and the bathroom was big with a nice bath tub.Our stay included complimentary breakfast too.And all this for 3200/-per day???????????
As we settled in our room ,we found a door which led to the balcony and wow.....we could see the castle surrounded by a moat or lake. Not very clean but birds swimming in it.
We had little problem with the hot water but after a day that was also solved.
The waiters were nice and each time you pass them they would greet you.
Breakfast was also a lavish affair.Milk, tea, coffee, juices, cereals ,fruits, and 3-4 hot dishes like Idlis, poha, oats, parathas. It was actually a brunch for us.
The front desk people were friendly too and gae us all the inforation needed. We had to book our bus tickets to Ahmedabad and they helped us getting that .Their car dropped us to the bus station too.
Their lobby was very beautiful where we used to gather and sit.Garden has a swing which was my favourite.
So my experience with Rajdarshan was really good and I have persoally recommended thishotel to lots of people.

The road to the Hotel doesn't give the right impression about the hotel, but its better than initial impressions. Hotel is older and now many more options are available, but it retains an old charm. Staff is friendly. Breakfast is Ok but nothing to write home about. Room is value for the money they charged, but there is a lot of scope for improvement. I was not able to get hot water during my two day stay. Also the toilettries were not upto the mark. Though nothing was spectacularly bad, I w am sure there may be better options, even for a business traveller.
