We spent 2 nights at Udaipur and had a great experience at Rangniwas Palace. The room was ornately decorated and very clean. The best part was the jhula and garden which more than compensated for the size of the room. The service was prompt and food was tasty. It was conveniently located close to the palace, market and lake.
Overall a relaxing stay. Definitely recommended.

Local food was good. Do visit. Shilpgram and haldighati.Pichola lake also an excellent place to spend your evening.local market. Is good to shop though a lot. Of bargaining is required.ship gram is a good place to shop. As u can also appreciate the work of artists..City palace tour is also enjoyable,u need 4-5 hours for same. At least 3-4 days are. Required for the enjoyment at udaipur.

Room Tip: Rooms on ground floor with balcony are good

this is an authentic heritage property not very far from old city yet away from hustle and bustle of it.The pichola lake boating point is just 5 minutes walk and other attractions are 15minutes walk away. The atmosphere is totally resortlike the reception very cooperative the high roofed room reminded me of days gone by television was not flat adding to the old world charm. At this price what more you can ask for.really worth the price

This historic property has potential but sorely lacks in customer service and I was made to feel very unwelcome.
Later, two local drivers also confirmed that this used to be a great place to stay but over the years it has become run down and lacks any customer service.

The taxi I had arranged from the airport was timely and satisfactory.
Unfortunately upon arriving the man at the front desk was rude, curt and very unwelcoming after a very LONG day of travel. There was NO greeting upon arrival instead it was a formal and rude " I need your passport and "what time are you leaving tomorrow?"
Wow, I just arrived (9:00 P.M)and could not have had been made to feel worse.

I booked a large suite and it did have lots of character. However the shower did not work and only a small trickle of cold water would come out. The towels were threadbare and lacked what you would expect at this expensive rate.

One positive was the staff in the restaurant were accommodating and that included a kind room service waiter.

Overall the location is not great (located on a busy road a distance from the lake) very rude customer service from the front desk man and disappointing somewhat run down facilities.

The property could be great but unfortunately it is NOT.
I was glad to leave as soon as I could first thing in the morning. Additionally, I was asked two more times in the morning from the same man when I was leaving. So rude!

In conclusion Udaipur is a magical city. Stay in the city near the beautiful lake and avoid booking this property.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else!!!

Tonight is our last night at the Rangniwas Palace Hotel. After three nights we have come to appreciate the calm, quiet gardens inside its wall. Located just down hill from a market and city palace, this hotel is showing its age but when your over a hundred and fifty years old that is to be expected. The downside: our room was small. Upside:the staff was very responsive to our request, the rooms were clean and the shower was hot. The swimming pool is unheated but after a walk in the city, a cold swim was welcome. One of the benefits of the gardens was the family of monkeys that decided to stay a while and eat the fruit from the trees in the courtyard. There are, perhaps, bigger and more modern places here, but this hotel had old time royal charm.

I am an older, single traveller from London and I stayed in Udaipur to visit a charity on the outskirts of the city. I hadn't been to Udaipur for over 20 years and was amazed how busy the city now was. However staying at the Rangniwas was so relaxing. The service was faultless. The manager,Srimali, and the delightful owner did everything to make my stay memorable. I will be returning next year.

Hi,
We stayed at Rang Niwas hotel on our trip to Udaipur. The rooms are not at all good. The snaps that we saw online are misleading. The rooms have plain Kota Stone tiles and the walls just white washed. The room charges are very high compared to the room condition and facilities. You can get much better room for this.

In our room, the water was coming out of bathroom from the room, which was pathetic.

While I confirmed my booking on the phone manager had confirmed that he will give me the room for Rs. 1400 per night including all taxes. When we checked out, it was Sunday and the manager was on leave. They charged us Rs. 1400 + taxes. Though I explained them a lot that we have been promised Rs. 1400 including tax, they did not agree. Beware of these hotel managers. Not only this one, but at majority of the hotels, this is a problem.

I would say do not go for these hotels by booking in advance. Better go their, check the rooms and then go for a good bargain.

Thank you.
