The reception is typically Lalit with namaskars ( folded hands) and sherbets. Rooms are good and well equipped. The view is not so great unless you pay more for it. The so called attractions in the hotel are few and it will take you one evening to see the dancing camels or horses. The puppetry is too sub-standard and outsourced. The pictures on the web do not give the whole picture. The lake seen in the picture as being very close is rather far away. The lawns and greens in the hotel are too small for such a huge structure. The restaurants are few and you seem to be given too much of attention everywhere and you end up replying to the pleasantries rather than being with yourself and having fun. The open kitchen restaurant is almost next to the drive-way. The lawns too are right on the driveway and far too constrained. The hotel has few expanses and areas to wander around in.
The Udaipur taxis are expensive - even compared to Delhi - and the best way out is to walk out and use the local transport - the autos - once you have done your homework about prevailing rates. If you can afford it - the taxi rates at the hotel are good. But the sight seeing and travel adviser at the hotel was very outstanding and went far beyond his scope of duty to help us out. He provided the comfort you require as tourists.
The main lake 'Fateh Sagar Lake' is man-created and do not ignite any excitement and the name "city of lakes' is not justifiable.
